If u leave Public Assistance office without proof in your hand that u applied = U'll lose money. Don't believe one word of any P.A. worker. Judge later overrules them only if u bring judge a proof that u applied. No proof that u applied = no way to appeal. Every worker will lie to u that u r not eligible, or that they will process it. But if u leave their office without papers = goodbye for u, zero.

They lied to u that u were not eligible. But u left their office with nothing to show Administrative Judge. So they won, you lost!!! That's what the Judge told me a couple of hours ago: u can't show me that u applied, I have nothing to rule on.

I say "but every time I applied, they said there was no paper applications any more. We input your info, you go home and wait for the mail" Judge says then they lied to you, but you have nothing to show me today: not your application, not the notice of denial. Never believe any verbal promise: have workers put it in writing before leaving their office!!!!

OP, don't let all success go into your head...The only real achievement so far was a 2y order of protection. Next, you didn't take divorce lawyer advice and rushed to settle it at zero. Next you did submit what immigration wanted, but you'll only hear whether they like your case sometime in 2014. If your psych professional letter is requested at that time, it'll have to be at "the level". So don't skip therapy.

The only official matter at hand today is an appropriately conducted visit to Public Assistance (HRA). No matter what they tell you today, don't leave their center without a written proof that you have applied for all benefits. If you didn't get this proof in your hands on your previous visit, then the smiling (or not) worker already cost you hundreds. The treatment that DV survivors get in HRA hands is unconscionable. DV victims are never told that they are eligible to some benefits without immigration papers, and are not referred to DVL... But even when you bring your PF today, they may try to send you away without PROOF IN HAND that you have applied for all benefits. Tell us tonight WHAT papers (hopefully not blank forms) you manage to leave their center with. And if they put your visits into the system and GAVE you print-out. Also, if you tell them you have zero money, they should put some minimal cash into your pocket. That may be only $10-20 so don't let it go into your head. If they gave you nothing in writing on your previous visit, they already took hundreds from you. How you can afford "your own place" is anybody's guess; but think hard before you tell HRA that you have a sponsor: they will require a letter from him that may disqualify you from benefits

first i didnt think into my head that i was success already all i did is do what i could to still survive here in us thats all i want second i dont want anything from my husband i am not interested to what ever he has thats why i got the divorce right away because he is the one who serve it to me and i will just sign it thats it even though i dont have anything i still dont care about his property or money he has... third i was still working at my papers for social services so i dont know yet till i can submit all papers that they need from me that i will work next weekend together with some other paper work so i can get a real job... 4rth i got to own a place the help of my friends they are not sponsoring me or something i work for it and i cant tell the details about it its my own privacy,,,, and also my immigration i still dont know whats gonna happen but of course its up to them if they gonna give me a card or what at least i give and work the papers that they need from me... thats all.... and then wait what their decision

What you applied for is to ask if you can file for a green card as an abused spouse, you have not actually filed for a green card nor have you filed for work permission (EAD, Employment Authorization Card). Your prima facia (PF) will grant you the ability to collect certain public benefits, it will not grant you the right to work. If your VAWA (I-360) is approved, which will take about a year or more to happen, THEN you can file for a green card and work authorization.

that's what's going on here: between honey enjoy the ride and praise the Lord for everything happening and not happening, OP can't focus on what's going to hit her at her local P.A. office. They've already screwed her once (she can't show any proof that she applied and was denied benefits a month ago). Even today, with Prima Facie, she still thinks she's missing papers to put in application and leave their office with proof of the date she applied. And once she finally "thinks" she has all papers to apply, they'll catch her on not providing straight info on how she can afford her own place - and will again delay qualifying her.

Fact of the matter: with her original order of protection, which she got at the start of this topic, she should have insisted long ago to be processed by Domestic Violence specialist at P.A. - and refuse to leave P.A. office until they do! She would then get all benefits retroactively to that date, no matter how long it would take her to "work on papers". I think she still doesn't have any proof in hand that she ever applied for P.A.: this is the plight of most people on this forum. This even hit me yesterday the second I sat down in front of Administrative Judge: I couldn't pull out any proof of having applied within the last year... adjourned
