Also there seem to be a lot of opinions that aren't based on any experience of elementary schools. Go find out how they work before you hand out these absurdities about 'liberal activists' in your schools.

Mind you, your idea of a liberal activist is someone who teaches science as apposed to bible study, so I guess most elementary school teachers are...

If anyone seriously thinks children as young as seven don't discuss sex (or their seven year old version of it) amongst themselves, you are seriously niave. The best thing to do is give honest (age appropriate of course) answers to any of their questions. If you give them some cutesy mumbo jumbo you'll end up with some seriously misinformed youngsters.

As for the book, not read it, so can't judge, but seems totally harmless to me.

My daughter is turning 11 in a week, and in noway does she discuss sex with anyone, and im not niave, i just raised her correctly.

I am not saying she talks about sex like an adult, but among her friends, she will discuss all kinds of things that you will never know about, and what makes girls and boys different will be on the list. The fact that you have this idea that you 'brought her up correctly' probably means she is more likely to believe some of the more fanciful ideas that little kids come up with.

im glad to see you know so much more about my daughter than i do in that case you have no clue what kind of relationship i have with my daughter, you have no idea the open and honest one we have. my daughter tells me everything she does with her friends. remember shes 11 NOT 16, she doesnt hide things from me YET. she has told me when her friends begin to talk about sex she walks away, she told her best friend not to talk about it, that they shouldnt be worried about it right now, and would then go play on the ps2. i know my daughter doesnt lie to me yet, shes just now reaching her preteen yrs anyway.

again i wasnt aware you know so much more about my daughter than i do. its quite entertaining to find this out. i know i raised her correctly bc i am the one who raised her, and i did it alone, i didnt see you there, so it would be nice if you stop insinuating you know anything about how i raised her or how she is.

she is developing and growing just fine. just bc i dont see it appropriate to sit there and tell her its ok to talk to her friends about sex and oral sex and "hey why dont you just go try it" does not mean she is not growing and exploring and developing normally. she is as you sd a CHILD, what part of that do you not understand. and how dare you say shes not growing and developing normally, who are you to make that decision? i am GLAD my daughter has nothing to do with sex or a conversation of sex. i know how to talk to her about it, i have had sex and still do, i know how to explain the whole thing to her about it. just bc she make the decision to not have anything to do with it conversationally or physically doesnt make her abnormal. ok Dr Phil???

You maintain that's normal? Sorry, but it sounds to me as though you are conveying some very adult and rather messed up sexual messages to your child.

You still maintain that's normal?

It doesn't say anything about whether or not the kid is talking about sex, as Ionescu presumably meant to prove with it, but I would say it's normal. 11-12 is when most girls stop thinking kissing is gross, right? And sex is still gross at that age.

you must be blind, either by arogance . read again where i sd I ALREADY HAD THE SEX TALK WITH MY DAUGHTER AND IT WAS HER CHOICE TO NOT TALK ABOUT IT WITH HER FRIENDS BC AT THIS AGE SHE THINKS ITS GROSS. 10 is an ok age to talk to her bout it, i made that decision and she made her choices. im sure at 14-15 she will feel different, but for now, i am a happy mother to know what i know now about her
