Is anyone familiar with the process of family members (mom and brothers of the groom) asking for a visa to attend the wedding?

Thank you!!!

I believe that family members wanting to visit have to apply for and obtain a visitor visa. For more details, refer to the great informative pinned thread at the top of this forum page, "Yes, you can visit!"

Additionally, the Santo Domingo embassy website should be reviewed:

To be honest, there's a strong chance it may not happen. Dominican nationals have a very difficult time obtaining tourist/visitor visas. Due to high fraud and many people never returning from their "temporary trip" to the U.S. , very few people get approved. I know of several people who were denied (some even twice) despite them have legitimate reasons to visit, with evidence. The Consulate strongly recommends people applying have "very strong ties to their country" like: owning property, good amount of money in the bank, a job, etc. However, they are denied. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you and your family the best. On a side note, this is why a good amount of people decide to get married first and apply for the marriage visa. That way, the American side of the family can travel to Dom Rep for the wedding.

Read the link below for the requirements.
