i applied for victoria secret card but got denied because i don't have any credit history, kinda suck, because where do i have to start to build my credit history, was thinking applied from merchant like VS would be more easier than credit card from big company, but seems not

so now i am kinda afraid to apply other merchant card like kohls

Apply for " capital one for newcomers" . If you read this whole thread, you'll see many people got cards like that one with no credit history. Store cards are never approved as a first card.

i wanted to but some of my friend told me much easier to applied store card first, and now seems not easy at all. yesterday i asked capital one CS and he suggested me to apply secure one, i told him about newcomer one but i don't have a job here but i do have an income from renting my house and he said it's not working income from outside the country, so now i am really dilemma between secure one or newcomer, because they asking annual income on the form

can i just fill the annual income /year as $15.000 as the CS said income must be greater than mortgage, and i don't pay any mortgage, thanks

i did applied but it said : Thank you for your interest in becoming a Capital One^® customer.

We couldn't approve you for the Capital One^® Credit Card and we'll follow up in writing within a couple of weeks to explain the specific reasoning behind our decision

yes i am married with US citizen and he has a good score, oh well, i think i don't need my own card then, kinda suck being denied twice already hahahaha

Have him put you on one of his cards as an authorized user and also get a secured card.

Denial lowers your score. So try to ot get denied again

As my wife didn't have any credit cards or loans taken out, except for her student loan, we basically started building our credit from scratch as I came over. We decided to get a secured credit card (I'm the primary), a gas card (she's the primary) and a credit card with one of the jewelry stores (I'm the primary) together. With bigger purchases her mom helped us out by being the co-signer on our agreements, which also enabled us to get higher credit limits. So my wife is primary on the Best Buy card and I'm primary on one of the furniture store's card (we bought a new bed).

We use our credit reasonably, remembering the rules that drive the credit score calculations. So far so good

should i write to them and tell them that i am a new comer that's why they can't find my credit score

Denials don't lower your score. An excessive amount of "hard" queries does. Regarding the letter, go to your bank and explain the situation. Ask them if they can set you up with a secured credit card for starters.

True but there are lot of things that can lower your score and applying for a new credit card is one of those things regardless you get denied or not because they do a credit inquiry.

As I suggested, having him add you as an authorized user and/ or getting a secured CC are good options for you.

What is your current credit score?

I would wait until your score is above 700 before applying for a new credit card. Getting rejected could impact your credit score.

After receiving a pre approval notice for a Discover it card in the mail, I applied online last week and was immediately given a $1,500 line of credit. This week, my CreditKarma score went up to 703 and hopefully when my Discover it card is factored in, my score will go up even more in the near future.
