Yep my fiance was hung up on when he asked to speak to a tier 2. Seems customer service is just about non existent at USCIS.

No you do not have to just sit and wait it out. Be as pro active as you feel you wish to be but do be prepared for let downs from most people that you think might be able to help e.g congressman, senator, media etc. Every so often, someone gets lucky with their congressman or senator. You may be one of the lucky ones but you will not know until you try.

Good luck in your journey.

Good for all those who speak up about this broken system.

For the life of me I don't understand why some people here think we are to march like good little soldiers to the drum of a government agency that is lacking in transparency, competent customer service and not adhering to their own regulations.

What a total disconnect !

I found that the quickest way to get connected to a Tier 2/Immigration Officer is when I stay on the line and do not choose the English or Spanish option but stay on hold like your phone had a rotary dial. This will bypass all the blah blah blah... and connect you directly to a Spanish speaking rep who will start introducing herself and ask you the usual questions. I explain I speak English and the rep usually apologizes that you went through the Spanish line. At this point I do one of two things: (1) either answer all the preliminary questions or (2) just tell the rep I was on hold for a Tier 2/ Immigration Officer or I was already speaking with an Tier 2/Immigration Officer and got disconnected. It works every time. I still have to go on queue to be answered in the order calls were received but I find it quicker. If I get disconnected for whatever reason, the I go through the process again.

Also I contacted my senator's office and I have a case rep who keeps me updated. I found this to be the best path to go since she was able to provide me with more concrete information than my xxx, xxxs of calls to USCIS. My Senator's Immigration Case Worker was able to tell me that my file was located from the "holding room" (where it was for several months) and was now at the Adjudication Division. My case worker also emailed me saying that their liaison at the USCIS gave her a date of April 12 for a response (NOA2) or she would contact them again. Then I got an update on the USCIS website on April 1, 2013 saying that I had an address change. (I did an address change 2x last year but not recently. USCIS Tier 2 says that when they "touch" or do something to the file, sometimes the quickest notation they can use to indicate a "touch" is an address change even though it is not the action taken.) It is now past April 12 and still no NOA2, so I called my case rep again and she promised to email their contact at USCIS to followup and they usually get an update within a week.

I also contacted my congressman's office and spoke to his Immigration Case Worker but their policy is not to intervene when the constituent is already being assisted by another senator/congressman due to "professional courtesy." However, he has been very helpful in answering general questions and I have called him a couple of times for advise.

I am now at 7.5 months :crying: and my "consuelo de bobo" or literally translated "consolation of the fool" is that 7.5 months have passed. NOA2 should be coming soon.

Good luck to all of us.

Stop the nonsense and start preparing for your fiancee to arrive. You have a lot to do.

The process is not broken, the process is not designed to answer the anxious questions of every petitioner. So stop it. You will only become more frustrated and accomplish nothing to help your fiancee.

You will get a notification in the mail when the petition is approved.

Not difficult for you to say. You all received your approval is less the 100 days :bonk:

I still had the 4 phones that were each in some type of terminal hold so we sat back at waited. At 93 minutes and then almost one after the other a Asian sounding woman answered my first call. First her English so poor that I could immediately tell we would have problems in understanding each other. But, after she said what sounded like "Thank you for calling the USCIS" I introduced myself.. A moment later she said "hello anyone there?" After three more attempts at communication she advised "since no one is on the telephone I am disconnecting the call." And she ended the call. Then one at a time the exact same experience was repeated on the other three phone calls. :help: :help: :help:

Amazing!!

I did the same thing at one point and it frustrated me !!! I disliked uSCIS operators they are nasty and mean and its like they really dont like their jobs !!!

I hope that your approved soon , NVC operators are much nicer and helpfull !!

Wow, you're real helpful. I would think before you make such arrogant comments, you would at least check someone's timeline and see how long they've been waiting, and if it's far longer than you had to wait, have the courtesy to keep your mouth shut, or at least have some encouraging words, because you don't have a clue what those of us who have been waiting a long time have been going through. And if this person is like me, and more than likely is, since his NOA1 is exactly the same date as mine, he's probably overprpepared for his fiancee to arrive, minus the plane ticket and wedding dates, thanks to the delay.

I see the false status often that people post. Address change etc....that never happened. I myself had a "post office returned document" blah blah status which never happened for which they later apologized but left me hanging for months wondering what they were talking about with numerous calls and senatorial inquiry. How hard can it be to make a correct status update :bonk:

This is one incompetent, confusing cluster fest.

There is only so much you can do to prepare when you are thousands of miles apart. We already have everything ready for the interview.. with no guarantee of when we are going to get an interview. There is no excuse for the process to not be designed for being courteous over the telephone. The advice people are given by the USCIS is to contact by telephone to speak to a representative. There is also no reason why they should not be answering peoples concerns when we are seeing later petitions being processed Nov/ Dec petitions ahead of people still waiting from July.. who have everything in order. More than enough evidence with a contents page in correct order, plus the required paperwork included.

If they can cash so many cheques so fast, then there is no excuse to keep putting people on hold.

Clearly the system is broken, like most Government departments are. It was a terrible mess when i went to register my sons birth abroad for hos U.S. citizenship. The guy behind the desk was trying to argue that our son could be my ex husband`s.. even though i clearly pointed out the fact that we had been separated for 2 years prior, and my ex was in Canada while i was in the U.S. at the time of conception (my passport clearly showed). But apparently he though it was possible that i could have been pregnant for 12 months (even if he thought i had still been with my ex.. i left Canada 12 months before my son was born!) Imagine that.. 12 weeks overdue?! ummm i think not!!! i would have been induced at 2 weeks overdue at the latest! Then when they finally issued my son`s U.S. passport, they sent the wrong passport. Not only did they send the wrong passport, but they also sent me someone`s old passport and an enclosed envelope with that persons address on that it was supposed to have been mailed in... WOW! Clearly someone was not doing their job properly!

Then i was on hold for at least an hour over the phone, trying to notify them of this mistake! When i finally got through, the representative did not at all seem surprised that this had happened as if he deals with this a lot. So i am guessing they send a lot of wrong documents out to people.

I can quite honestly say that they actually made a complete hash of everything! It delayed my son`s passport and i had to mail everything back to them.

It makes me wonder if they just drag people off the street to work in their offices?! :bonk:

lol my fiance is Native American (lived in the U.S. all his life.. and they saw his birth certificate, driving licence, SSN and dates he served in U.S. Army and Marines) and.. is a Crow Creek tribal member .. and they were still arguing whether my fiance was actually an American citizen at the interview. :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Guys... This probably comes to no surprise but this process is broke.. I think our government know this and really could care less.

I was one of those who sent a letter to Director Neufeld at the beginning of April. This past Thursday I received a response advising that, although my inquiry was appreciated, I should seek information either through the USCIS web site, calling the automated system or speaking personally with someone on the phone.

Did the same thing and got the same exact letter today. :(
