For naturalization/citizenship you do not need to show anything regarding employment. You do need to show proof of filing taxes... You can call and order your tax transcripts...

Wrong, no paystubs or employment letter is needed when filing for US citizenship, only proof of filing taxes.

You need proof of filing taxes for the N-400?

I don't see that on the instructions or the M-477. I'm about to mail my application off on Monday and I'd like to make sure I have everything in the package. Thanks.

Yes, you need proof of filing taxes... One of the questions on the 400 pertains directly to if you have filed taxes (or ever evaded taxes) ...

Yes, especially if you are filing under the 3 year rule, one of the listed documents is tax proof (it also, shows you file married). Most of us sent in tax transcripts and I would venture to bet that those that did not, we're asked to provide tax proof. If you are behind in taxes, they require you show proof that you either have arranged for payment or are in good standing with the IRS.mthis is the federal government... They find tax info VERY important.

No, it doesn't say anywhere that you need to show proof. I believe you need to take three years of tax transcripts to your interview, but there's no need to send it with the N-400.

If you're filing based on three years of marriage to a US Citizen then you do need to send them as part of that, but not everyone is filing under that category.

Yes, you need it, at least if you file based on marriage to USC: http://www.visajourney.com/content/naturalization_guide .

I am pretty sure even if you do a 5 year filing you need to prove you filed.

Can you provide a source for that? Even the VJ Guides state that they're only required at the time for filing if you're filing based on marriage to a US Citizen.

If you've ever not paid your taxes, or not filed while being a PR, you have to send some documentation pertaining to that. If you have filed and paid your taxes you just need to take your transcripts to the interview.

Oh I filed based on having my green card for 5yrs

And I did not send in any proof

Plus I received my interview letter and neither did it state to bring proof.

All that it stated were

Greencard

Passport

Proof of Selective service

2 passport photos (not mandatory)
