Hi all. I have a question. Is it true that the applicants sending i-130 from abroad (and living there till waiting for all) waiting for less? (sorry for my english)

I've heard that there is supposedly a shorter waiting time for those of us that reside abroad waiting for the I-130 to be approved, but honestly, I'm at 4.5 months since we filed the I-130 and I'm abroad, so I'm beginning to think that the whole shorter waiting period is just another myth of the system.

I filed my K3 about 4.5 months in roughly. Personally I dont think it will affect your processing time at all. I can say that Ive had more activity on my K3 in the month Ive filed it than I have on my I130. We filed because it was free, K3 is a valid visa, and it wont take your 130 out of line like others here have stated. In the end the K3, if approved, will cost a little more money and create more paperwork...but to us it was worth it.

Thinking about joining in the K-3 filers after a month of watching a growing backlog of stagnant I-130 petitions. With no official processing time estimate available, and the staggering number of backlogged I-130 petitions, it seems possible that it may become a viable option as it once was. What else can we do? We can't just wait around and hope that I-130 petitions start moving again. Then again, if they just "join up" the two petitions, then the K-3 is just useless and wastes even more USCIS resources. If only USCIS would share a little bit of information (the misinformation line and infopass do not qualify) we could make informed decisions, and actually save them some work from having to deal with potentially unnecessary petitions from K-3 filers.

So the K3 is an actual option then? It all seems misconstrued. I know some of you have lawyers. Do they have anything to say about the K3? I'm wondering if it is worth a shot if our expedite isn't approved. I should know this week or next hopefully.

Yeah K3 is a viable option. The way I figured is it didnt cost me anything to file it since I already filed a 130. If my K3 does get approved before my 130 then it will cost me a little more money and paperwork in the long run. Which personally I have no issues with. I also figured that at least this by filing a K3 I have at least a different avenue to get my wife here. The K3 is not an obsolete visa, it is only deemed obsolete once your 130 petition is approved. For me personally it was worth it to file. My suggestion would be to do some research and see if it is worth it to you. If you decide it is then you should file..pretty easy to do. Good luck!

So looking at the K3....I never got the i-797f or whatever it is that is the physical paper stating USCIS got our i-130 with the receipt number. Only ever got the email. Even after two service requests to get it I never received it. Could I print the email you think?

According to the directions it says you must enclose a copy of the 797 as proof. I would call again and request it. Make sure to get the persons name and agent ID that way you can hold them accountable if you dont get it. Here is the link for the K3 info

Thats the info I used to file mine. Accepted with no issues.

My timeline is updated but I will be sure to post any changes as well. We already have an alien number assigned as well.I figured the K3 was worth it. In the long run if that does get approved before the I130 it will mean spending a little more cash and extra paperwork. But to me whichever way works faster is what Im cool with. Hopefully we will start seeing approvals at the end of this month or sometime next month. Sooner the better!

Awesome - well I will follow your timeline just for curiosity's sake. And yes - hopefully approvals soon!! :)

Awesome news!!!

USCIS called me today and I was at work. The voicemail was about that my husbands address was showing as mine in their system and the officer wanted to discuss my letter to Obama and our expedite. I called back and she told me our expedite was approved!!! I had to hold back bursting into tears out of happiness.

Hoping we will be approved soon!!!

Only a thought.......If the NBC does pick up their pace in approving our I-130's during September/October, do you think this will create a huge backlog at the NVC??? Hmmmmm.

Taking my 3 week trip to my Love in Germany from 15 September through 7 October. It's been 5.5 months since I saw her. Here's to hoping all before me get approved (then me), while I am away!!!!
