I mailed my i-130 April 16, it arrived at the PHX lockbox April 19. I received an email and NOA in the mail and online it says our case is in initial review. Is that the NOA-1 approved that ppl talk about?? Or am I waiting for the status online to say approved and then that means I have NOA-1 approval? Sorry new to this and trying to learn all these terms and abbreviations :)

Hi, I believe once your check clears and sent a NOA1 it basically means the petition is accepted. This is good and its now under the initial review and we just wait and hope its fast. I have an April 1 date and my file says initial review also. Keep us all informed on how us April filers are doing. I have read a 45 day approval from NOA1 -NOA2 but on average there is a 5 month wait.

I'm the beneficiary, I have known my hubby for 5+ years, just got maried on 4/4/13 while I was visiting him in NYC, he sent the documentation on 4/15/13 and we received and email & text on 4/22/13, haven't received the letter in the mail yet, but at least I know they got the package. it was routed to NBC and for what I have heard it can be really quickly iif they handle it there or really lonf if they send the petition to the local office. Praying for a quick, easy process so that I can be with him for his birthday in January next year :D

Hi. I'm Japanese and my husband is American citizen.

We sent I-130 on 1st of Apr and received on 5th. NOA1 is 9th by e mail.

But we are still waiting for the paper of NOA1.

They say on email "within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number...."

But it's been almost one month.

Did everyone receive the paper mail soon after NOA1 on email ?

Am I doing something wrong or does it not work for everyone?

I wish I could receive hard copy.

I thought usually we receive both of them..

I will let my husband call USCIS and ask about it..

Hope everything is going ok.

Just recently received form I-797 it took almost 1 month maybe because of our address (APO) but we received a confirmation on 8th of april.

I hope i already fix my birth certificate (beneficiary) before we will receive NOA2.

Goodluck to all of us.

My husband called USCIS and they said if we know the receipt number then we don't really have to receive hard copy...

So now all I can do is check the status often.
