A couple of the March filers had their congressman contact the USCIS and they received a reply saying standard processing times from NOA1 to NOA2 is 12 months (!!!) That just makes me really sad, I miss my husband terribly and we can't afford to keep paying for flights for me to go to the USA or vice versa, plus we don't get that much holiday time! It annoys me more that couple already living togther are able to get through the process in 2-3 months... so annoyed, I don't even bother checking my case status any more, no point.

Before I married my husband in March, I was stalking the procesing times in the USCIS website. I didn't know the NBC existed so I was looking at the VSC . It reported 6 months for the longest time. My thoughts were" wow, they must have gotten their ####### together and they are processing faster". As soon as I get married and file the papers, it jumps to infinity again. Our attorney said it has been steady for the last 6 years at about 6 months.. Of course give or take a little either way... One of my friends just married a guy from the Dominican Republic.. Her attorney said 8 months. ( last week)

Obiously it is a case by case basis but it is rather annoying that they don't give monthly updates and that every single person you talk to gives a different answer. I will say that I think 12 months is a little far fetched. It has happened but I don't think that is normal. It is also obvious that the USCIS throws out a generic answer to get everyone to stop calling. It annoys the ####### out of me because we already paid for processing. We aren't asking for something for free. It seems to me, the USCIS is not doing their job. ( duhhh)

Getting the congressman involved at only 4 months is actually being a little ahead of the game. You aren't supposed to involve thecongressmen unti you are at or past the posted processing times. I'd be afraid someone would put my file at the bottom of e pile if I were being to pushy. HA HA just a thought

Iam in the same boat as u all, and feel the same.

just when we file for our loved ones and thats when the processing time jumps

last night i was browsing the march forum and they are having tough luck to and with that post abut 12 months, it made me felt heart broken cray5ol.gif

they should just start processing in a different country, where it would be quick and more efficient, its sad to take jobs away from USA people but thy are to a point which makes us all angry.

I think the main problem here is lack of resources.

I'm the beneficiary.

Don't have a timeline? Don't know how to get started with it? Do it for the statistics sake: VJ video guide

Filing for a USC spouse visa (IR-1/CR-1) and not sure what comes next? Check out the VJ IR-1/CR-1 guide

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

I wrote my congressman an email. I figured, what the hell, might as well! I mean if he writes back and says "wait until 6 months" okay, cool. But if he says "okay I'll look into it" AWESOME. My email was also less of a "you need to help me now" and more of "the visa process is awful and something needs to be done to change it because it's long and expensive"

Plus, I've already had the ombudsman involved in my case so I figure if they're pissed about people bothering them, they're already pissed at me!

I really would like to take a tour of the immigration buildings and process.. I would like to see it with my own eyes..

I imagine about 10-15 people sit in a cubicle eating donuts.. Nobody working hard and talking to each other about how they need more money and this job sucks.. Person go gets a box of applications sits it on the desk then takes break.. I imagine it as simple as A, B, C checklist and half the stuff we send in is pointless.. But of course we can't know the checklist because it is secret..

Then I imagine when you call it goes to different office.. Person working there maybe part time employee with low wage working through college or whatever.. Person doesn't have any knowledge but same as us.. Only see what it show on computer screen..

It sad to say but it's messed up how I imagine it.. Lot of people not working, unhappy, don't care, and feel unappreciated.. Which causes all of us to wait longer and grow more frustrated every day

So they say the first step is checking our backgrounds etc...... how friggin long can that actually take? and from what I understand( after reading many, many posts) It really is only about a 15 minute adjudication. It really is not fair .. we paid our fees. We are not asking for anything for free. Was the fee for rental space in a box somewhere? The USCIS has decided to united the K-1 filers first. ( and I'm not saying they don't deserve to be approved) It doesn't make sense to keep the married couples apart longer than the unmarried couples.... We already made the commitment.. we are married. As paying customers we aren't getting what we paid for!! 4-6 weeks should be max processing time.. As far as time to get a background check then I have had mine pulled to get onto 2 different power plants for work.. I sent in request one day and they had my background pulled and accepted the very next day.. So it doesn't take long at all!
