April 2013 I-130 Filers

Getting the political figures involved doesn't do much. They put in a request on your behalf, and the benefits center spits out a generic answer saying you have to wait x months for your paperwork to be processed. When I go home tonight ill copy paste and edit the personal stuff so you can see exactly what you get from them.

you have to go by the processing times published by the USCIS. Getting the congressmen involved when you are still within their published processing times will only get you an answer you can get by talking to a tier 2 person.( my personal experience) my first petition took 8 months to be processed. I got the congressmen involved twice. it didn't help one bit.. That was back in 2008.

btw.... they don't update the processing times regularly because that would create inquiries. Also, have you noticed that you can't get status on the NBC for I-130's? They do that on purpose. also, the field offices can't be tracked for I-130's either. If you look at the VSC stats, the page is dated for June but there is a little blub right above the chart stating April. So, its off by 3 months. And you can't even go by VSC because our files aren't there.

April 4th filer. I visited my local office yesterday in Detroit. Officer said that my file never got sent to the local office in Detroit. It is still in St. Louis, Missouri. My question is: if a file has not been sent to the local office 3 months after it was filed, does that mean that they decided to process it in Missouri? Or is there still a chance that they may send it to Detroit? Thanks.

August 15, 2012 - CSC and the Vermont Service Center began shipping stand-alone Immediate Relative I-130 petitions to NBC. NBC ships I-130s to the field bi-weekly based on jurisdiction (ZIP code). There are two exceptions to the petitions sent to the field: those that are foreign filers, and expedite requests. Once NBC is staffed for this workload in 2013, we will assume jurisdiction of the stand-alone Immediate Relative I-130 petitions. August 15, 2012 NBC assumed jurisdiction over all new I-90 applications. The Nebraska Service Center will complete the workload that was pending as of 8/15/12. September 20, 2012 NBC modified the I-485 initial evidence review process for family-based applications to provide staff for new workloads at NBC. NBC will resume the normal process when we have the staffing capacity to perform the work. October 1, 2012 USCIS Lockbox Operations began assigning MSC receipt numbers to standalone Immediate Relative I-130 petitions and shipping the petitions to NBC

Thanks for the advice - -I guess we just want to feel like we are doing everything possible to get through this in one piece! I know everyone is waiting, but I sort of feel like anything is worth a shot... I even think a RFE would be appreciated right now, as least we know it's not just sat in a filing cabinet gathering dust somewhere...

I sent in EVERYTHING because I didn't want to delay my case one extra minute. I almost submitted my file in without the translations... Then when I thought about it, I decided to wait and just harrass the translator to get them done faster.

Actually this post has been really enlightening for understanding how things are going - doubt it's changed much since 2007 process-wise.

my timeline estimate just jumped forward a month overnight. Its now into October. Started out in July about 6 weeks ago. I sure wish everyone would update their timelines.. I'm not going with the estimated date but it sure is discouraging

I noticed something though...

I am signed up for updates on the USCIS website for my current petition. I had a previous petition( that I withdrew back in 2009) that I was signed up for but I signed up for a new account when I filed the current one.

So I tried to sign into my account to check that status and it kept telling me I was not entering the correct user name or password. So I recovered my information and when I signed in with my reset password, someone added my previous petition and my current petition to the same account. I did NOT do that... I was using two different email accounts, that is how I know it wasn't my mistake. So I am not sure what that means, but I'm going to go with maybe someone was looking at my case and happened to look it up and discovered there were two separate petitons and combined them to make it easier to process... I had to mention my previous withdrawn petition on the I-130 I filed in April... so I am really hoping they are getting ready to process it...

Any thoughts?

Looking forward to a productive week ... We want APPROVALS !!
