Hi jajaju, I'm a Japanese who lives in Sydney. So I've got the Japanese police check, but haven't got an Australian one yet. I'm going to get the Australian one after I receive a packet from NVC. Don't they need a some kind of paper or something from the consulate or NVC to do the police check? I might be wrong. it was months ago when I read info. I should read the instruction again.

No I don't believe so. You can just go to the state police web page and click police check and you need to not only do the name clearance but also the finger prints too. Seems pretty easy :)

I wouldn't get the police cert until you get the approval. At least my lawyer told me not to do that til then because they expire in a short period of time. Not worth doing it twice since it has to be translated. In Costa Rica it only takes a few hours to get the cert.

Guys, just looking for some info but could't find anywhere.....

I spent around 2 yrs in Singapore long time back (around 5 years). Thus as the USCIS website says that if one have stayed in a country more than 12 months after 16 yrs of age, he/she should have police clearance from that country also.

I have already got police clearance from Singapore 2 months back, but i guess by the time if will have my interviews, it will be 6 months old already. So, do you guys think that i need to have a fresh clearance again? (I don't think it should be because i never visited that country again).

I really don't think so. Just need the clearance for the time you were living there.

I know UK and Australia are different, but UK police cert is valid for 12 months, so I got mine already. It varies country to country so just check on your local website.

The Costa Rica Police Cert is only good for 30 or 60 days . I am leaning toward 30 days tho. I think they are required for employment over there too. My husband even said they aren't valid for very long. I am sure every country is different.

new delhi embassy says the PCCs are valid for 1 year... but if you haven't been to singapore since you got your PCC i would assume they wouldn't ask for an updated one
