whatever the date they used to tell you they received your file.. If you received it in the mail on April 5th... that's just due to slow mail... Use the date they used in the body of the letter

So when I fill out my timeline, where it says NOA1 date, I should use March 28th? Not the date I actually received it? I want to be sure I am doing this right for the stats to be correct.

Yes, THE NOA1 date is the date they received it and put it into the system.. Don't use the date it landed in your mailbox.

If they sent you a notice with March 28th as the day they received it then you are a March filer. Remember, some people NEVER get a hard copy of the NOA1 in the mail.

Welcome! My husband is also German, living in Germany, and waiting this out. Where are you in Germany?

We've budgeted really carefully and are managing to visit at Christmas (assuming they let him at the POE). But we are nothing in terms of patience compared to you! We've only been doing this long-distance for a year, not 8!

Good luck to you, and to all of us!

ROUND 1:

29 Aug 2011 - Started dating

05 Oct 2012 - SO's J-1 visa expires, returns to Germany

21 Dec 2012 - Engaged in Germany
21 Mar 2013 - Married in US
26 Mar 2013 - Husband returns to Germany (again)

12 Apr 2013 - I-130 sent to Chicago Lockbox

19 Apr 2013 - NOA1 received (notice date 4/16/2013)

11 Dec 2013 - NOA2
16 Dec 2013 - Hard copy NOA2 received
22 Jan 2014 - Received Case # and IIN from NVC - we're in the system!

21 Mar 2014 - CASE COMPLETE!! (received info by calling NVC on 24 March)

06 May 2014 - interview date

16 May 2014 - POE

ROUND 2: I-751 process - just getting started!

18 Apr 2016 - I-751 packet sent to California Service Center

28 Apr 2016 - money order cashed

02 May 2016 - NOA1 received - phew!

16 May 2016 - biometrics appt

Priority Date - what people refer to as PD

But there is no priority date for Spouses of USC's, so that date doesn't matter . The priority date is for beneficiaries who have to wait for a visa to become available. . For Igor's list, you have to use the NOA1 date to be accurate.

My wife is in Stuttgart as well. PD 12 April. Received a call back from my congresswomans representative a couple days ago. She said give her a week to research the status and location of our case.

I also sent the copy of the letter that is being sent to the justice department in the near future. Just to let the congress folks know what all of us are going through.

My wife will be visiting mid december thru Mid january, so hopefully the POE dude won't have a bad day and send her back. Incidently I also mentioned this possibility to my congresswoman. idea9dv.gif
