Hello Everyone,

Just starting out my amazing journey and have some questions regarding my interview. Living in Toronto I have always found myself basking the wake of my own importance thinking that ToroNo is the centre the the universe. To my dis belief I found out that the Interview must be done at the consulate in Montreal. All these months of driving past the one on University avenue in Toronto wishing to be inside has been thwarted by some montreal canadians fan no doubt. Thus I plan to make my trek up the St. Lawrence River to the other side of the universe and spend a night in MTL.

1. Things that I need to bring with me for evidence (documents photos etc.) ?

2. How much notice in advance will I have to make travel plans?

3. Once the interview is over do I then poses the VISA or does it come later to me in the mail back in Toronto?

Thanks a Bunch for all the info. I have to say since I have joined here I have felt a lot more calm. FInding out that I'm not alone in this daunting and never ending task of moving 1400km!!!!

Sorry to disappoint, Toronto is not that big of a place ;) I recommend you read the guides to familiarize yourself with the process (check top of your screen, there is a ''Guides'' tab). You can also read interview reviews (tab '' Reviews: Embassy/USCIS & POE ''). It's all very helpful.

Now to answer your questions:

1. The Montreal interview checklist is available here: http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/visas/visas/fianc-k-1-visas/appointment-checklist.html

2. K-1 interview appointments are usually available 2-3 months ahead. You will schedule it yourself and will be able to pick among many available time slots.

3. Pending the fact your application is not held in advanced processing, you will get your visa by mail shortly after the interview (read: a week or two). If your case is in AP, there is no saying how long it would take. You will not walk out of the consulate with your visa, you will, at best, be told verbally you were approved and get an information letter about how to activate with your visa. Interview is not that big of a deal if you have everything required.

Good luck!

AOS from K1 completed February 2012

For evidence of a relationship I brought the following: [Note that Montreal did not request to see any evidence of a relationship; they were much more interested in supporting evidence of the I-129F- so don't neglect this!]

1. 4 photos of us from throughout our relationship (we're not really a couple for photos :P)

2. boarding passes and train tickets from when we visited each other

3. flight itineraries

4. western union receipts (we sent each other money sometimes)

5. credit card statements that showed purchases in each other's countries

6. a couple emails
