Hello Vjers, I need help from experience members regarding my AOS application. Our household income is $5000 short of the required income for a household of 6. My mother inlaw who is also a joint sponsor has a property worth $30000(thirty thousand) and I also have saving of $8000(eight thousand). My questions are;(1) can I use my savings to make up for the shortage. (2) I know we can use asset to make up but do we need to add any evidence of the asset (Land) with the I-864 form? I hope someone who has gone through this process can help in answering the questions. Thanks.

Is your joint sponsor short or just you? If the joint sponsor qualifies on their own there is no need to worry with assets.

If not, then your cash is not enough to make up the difference (and is not owned by the joint sponsor anyway). The property is enough, but it has to be equity or owned outright, and you will need proof of its valuation and ownership.

if you want to use your asset or bank account it has to be X3 of your short amount.

$5000 x 3 = $15000

you have to have atleast total of $15K of savings or asset to be able to cover the shortage. also you could also to use your car as an asset if there is more than 2 cars that are use able.

goodluck!!!

The longer it takes to happen the more you'll appreciate it when it does!

Thanks for your response. Regarding using the money in d bank and a car as asset, what document do we need to prove that we got the asset and do I attach my bank statement as a prove for the savings?
