I put together a short video (link disabled - please see new link at http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/424394-video-is-complete-start-sharing/page__view__findpost__p__6145474 ) as a means of getting the word out about what's going on at the CSC.

it's basically a draft, about a minute and a half long. My goal is to get some input from all of you wonderful folks, clean it up and add in any suggestions you might have, and get it out there tomorrow night, for all to post to whatever social media they see fit.

there's not a lot of info in it, I didn't want to complicate it, so I was going to add some links in at the bottom for more information.

I'll take suggestions on those as well!

Thanks!

Some of the text blocks need to be shortened or divided up better. Can you work in, somewhere, the phrase "going to the head of the line"? If anyone else has some red meat phrases, they are always good :P

Aside from those points: great job!!! The music choices and transitions were brilliant :) Thanks for putting this together.

Nowhere does it mention that the DACA cases are visas too. I think exact dates would help. I would say something like. "In July 2012 (or whenever the date was) a new visa class for the children of illegal immigrants called DACA was created and there was a huge influx of new visa applications, 450,000 at last count.". From that point on I would say "DACA visa" rather than "DACA" elsewhere.

So here's my proposed full version of that slide:

"In July 2012 a new visa class for the children of illegal immigrants called DACA was created by executive order creating a huge influx of new visa applications, 450,000 at last count and rising every day. The majority of these applications came from California. As a result at the California Service Center the processing of marriage visas came to a virtual halt.

Couples are now waiting eight months or even far longer. Those that filed after July 2012 have no idea how long they will have to wait and the USCIS isn't providing any information. For three months now the visa processing clock has been stuck at July 2012."

You might also toss in the fact that marriage visas are the only visa type where one affected party is a US Citizen though perhaps that might make it too wordy?

Here's the new video: (original link disabled, please see new link at http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/424394-video-is-complete-start-sharing/page__view__findpost__p__6145474 )

it's late, and I'm tired, so it may not be ready for public consumption...so please don't start promoting it yet.

Take a look, and let me know if anything is obviously wrong, or needs fixed before it goes live.

Also, I'd like suggestions for links, if people want more information... For sure I'll put I&B's analysis, and a link to the ombudsman... anything else?

Thanks!

OK, already found one... misspelled processing at 2:19 :crying:

This version is much better. I still think some of the text blocks are too long. I think people will become overwhelmed. The whole script needs to be more visceral IMHO.

I am super buried with work right now (I am teaching a full week class on Python, plus I have outstanding work on an MVC project I am contracted too, as well as part time work with my former employer maintaining a bunch of web apps, plus I am in the throes of preparing for my trip to Peru this weekend --- this is a good way to keep your mind off the wait :P ) If you can send me the text of your script, I can take a shot at editing it the way I think it could be more impactful... that won't happen before Saturday though. If you can, send it to me via PM.

Mark :)

I think some of the text in the middle still flashes too quickly. Other than that, I think it's pretty darn good. Great work.

Thinking about it more, again, I also think you might want to end by emphasizing exactly what we want people to do: write to their elected reps, the media, and the ombudsman to urge the USCIS to start processing I-129Fs again.

I agree... It's a real balancing act, to keep it viceral and to the point, and still provide enough information to the layperson.

I'll see what I can do about transcribing it!

Thanks, That was part of the plan from the original thread. it will be in the final version.

Thinking about it more, again, I also think you might want to end by emphasizing exactly what we want people to do: write to their elected reps, the media, and the ombudsman to urge the USCIS to start processing I-129Fs again.

will do! Thanks!
