Add Skype.

Communicate with each other's families.

I suggest she get another trip in before filing and while waiting for approval another visit.

I also suggest that she be there for the interview to show her support.

This journey will be rough.

Buckle your seat belts.

Read the guides, study them. Daily, until you understand them.

Have her come back and ask specific questions to get specific answers.

what they are trying to tell you is that the possibility of you getting a visa i f she petitions now is 1 out of 100 so just relax, build your relationship .get to know her more. then after that you can start the process.

With any relationship, time is of essence. Have her come visit you once more and spend two weeks or so with you,your family and friends. You could have tons of evidence, everyone of us does. The CO has been doing this for years. He/She can see through a lot of Bull $#@&

Don't rush the process for then it would take even longer if denied. Good luck

you forgot husbands Gowon. But yes there are more wives! Some of us have been in this loooooonnnngggg hellish VJ a lot longer than most and are still sane???

That's ok. Knowledge is power. She should study, drive all (instead of you), as she's the USCitizen.

Knowledge is obtainable, also. FWIW, each time there's a Nigerian Husband driving the paperwork, seems to be some problem. I don't know why, but I'm exhausted from the speculation.

Some of the problem is the street advise that says once you marry a USC getting the visa takes little more than filling out things at the embassy. It probably comes from the same people that think once you land here you will set suitcases full of US dollars back from the money that lies in the streets.

There is no rule that says you need to wait X amount of days before your wife files for you but you need to show things like she sending money to you via western union, you and her need a joint account in Nigeria and you need something like joint tenancy together. When she calls you her phone or calling card needs to log the calls that she calls your Nigeria number.. By the way, did you guys do Traditional wedding also because they question my friend about traditional wedding.

There is no 'official rule' that says you have to wait an x amount of days in the filing instructions but there is an

internal fraud fact sheet which lists a marriage soon after meeting as an issue to consider as fraud indicator.

Careful with money transfers, they are sometimes interpreted as a whole other motive and agenda. Use with discretion in each individual case.

If she has not lived there for an extended time then she would not have tenancy proof with her name on it and it would not be expected as the boarding passes clearly show how long she stayed. Proof of wherever she stayed is needed in the form of photos (home) and/or receipts (hotel).

Very true on the calling cards and traditional weddings with family in attendance are also a plus.

Many other things too numerous to list here are needed, therefore I suggested to study the guides and come back and ask specific questions. It would not be good to list a few here and miss the rest.

I guess people timing are different depending how they planned it. Me and my wife got an apartment in less than one week after marriage and the joint tenancy agreement was done and right after we took it to Ecobank and they did a joint saving account for us though i was in Lagos for 5 weeks.

Putting the beneficiary on the USC's life insurance and adding the USC to land owned by the beneficiary are two more ways to show a certain degree of 'co-mingling'. There are so many different things to consider and good ideas in VJ threads.

Yes, i like the life insurance part i saw it listed in the US Nigeria embassy website as one of things they are looking for some few months ago. So i called my electric and gas provider then added my wife's name including having my landlord adding my wife's name in the apartment lease in new york but i have not done the life insurance part as of yet.

By the way, does your VJ name mean God's gift or God's blessing ?
