Sorry for the numerous threads, I just have a lot of questions on various topics.

Does NVC accept laminated Marriage certificate? I am not sure how to even "unlaminate" this.

To the Pakistanis, did you guys send an original Translated Marriage Certificate along with the Original Urdu Nikkah Nama with the DS230? I don't have the Nadra Certificate.

Laminated MC? Seriously? As in wrapped in plastic like an ID card? As far as I know, NVC will accept a marriage certificate AS IT IS, without any cover or lamination on it. Get a new original marriage certificate then, saves you the worry.

I think the lamination is not glued, so maybe I can attempt to take it out. This was not my doing LOL! My husband got it laminated on his own and it didn't occur to me that this would be a problem. I suppose it's a fashion in some countries to get important documents laminated to protect them etc.

My other question is, if you send out the original marriage certificates (with the photocopies) to NVC, when do you receive the originals back? Do you put in a request with your DS230 package?

We sent the originals to NVC because that's what they require. They did not give it back. All the documents went to the visa packet and surrendered at POE.

We just got a new batch of original documents before hubby and kids flew to the US. Its advisable because you will need them in the future.

lamination is sealed when heat is applied... they do not accept doc out side of the original form of issuance. lamination might make security lines hard / impossible to detect.

Ricardo, if the lamination is glued only on the edges, then I suppose I can try to take it out? I think there are two kinds of lamination. I tried to feel if the lamination paper is glued to the document, but they are separated.

Maybe I can get another copy issues. Not sure how this would be possible though hmm.

Any Pakistanis here who can give advice on how to get another copy of the original Nikkah nama, or translated Marriage Certificate? Or should I just get a Nadra Marriage Certificate and send it with the original Urdu Marriage certificate, keeping the original translated one with me.
