I will be filing tomorrow and I can't seem to get a definitive answer.

At which point will I be able to travel?

Best to travel after you have done biometrics. But you can travel soon as you have your NOA1 from filing if you wish. Just make sure someone is checking your mail for the biometrics appointment so you can reschedule it and not miss it.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I was going to elaborate my first post: I am not about 40 days from my 'anniversary' - I have business out the country in mid-may - I'm just a tad worried about when I can travel - is it just after docs are sent in or is it after biometrics etc.?

My problem is that I need to leave the US for Argentina on the day (may 19th) my current green card expires.

Is the first NOA the 1 year ext.? Please could you explain why best to wait until biometrics?

Thank you.

You will need your extension letter to travel after your GC expires so you should file asap to make sure you get your NOA before your trip. You will be fine to travel on 5/19 as long as you have your extension letter in hand.

It's best to wait until you get your biometrics appointment letter to make sure your appointment doesn't fall on the day you will be out of the country. If you don't get your appointment letter before your trip, have someone check your mail daily while you're gone so you don't miss it.

NOA1 is the 1 year extension letter yes.

Bring the original NOA1 with you on your trip, don't leave without it.

Its best to wait until you complete biometrics because if you miss the letter or your letter does not arrive for some reason and you miss your biometric appointment and you do not contact them you will be deemed a no-show with abandoned application. Your extension would then be canceled along with your petition.

So best to wait for the biometrics to be done or have someone checking your mail to help you be able to get this letter and reschedule the appointment if you need to.
