There are specific restrictions on that allowance, one being that the husband must treat all wives equally and support them (and their children) all equally. Polygyny is not the norm in Muslim society, but rather the exception. In fact, acknowledging the difficulty of treating multiple wives equally and fairly, Qur'an encourages one wife.

Of course there are unscrupulous or selfish people who do not live up to the rules (as there are in any religion.)

Do you want to know another pro about islam? Any muslim I have spoken to, and I am talking about the complete strangers, have always been the most polite folks. It's so refreshing to feel that comrade right off the bat.

Uhhh your joking right.. You saying they are all polite. You are for sure.. some others on here not so much

i can can say this positive about Muslims. the ones I trained took Ramadan very seriously as they did their religion.

They were also very very devoted family men.

They also all spoke universally about being charged to help the poor.

The Saudi royalty I trained who was in the Saudi Guard was the party animal. Drink and swear like a fish.. Loved that guy

I've had one issue:

When I took the wife to the mall for the first time, there was a dollar shop ran by a muslim couple, younger guy and woman. My wife heard the prayers when we entered and told me this is a muslim shop. I didn't know at first, so I went to the cashier, who was an Arabic American. I flat out asked him(my bad) if he was a muslim. The look on his face, I knew as soon as I said it, I was going about it the wrong way. He responded yes, but it was very tense for a second, he had a scowl where the smile used to be. I quickly apologized and pulled out my muslim ID from Malaysia, a wave of relief came over him. He said, sorry about that, when folks ask me that and I reply yes, they leave the store or they make some remark. We started talking and he was very helpful in showing me where we could get Halal food and places that were Muslim friendly.
