I called in to USCIS today and got a Tier 2 representative after I told Tier 1 not to bother quoting me info on their website and just transfer me to Tier 2. I am a September filer (Sep 4 NOA1) with petition at CSC. He initially tried to tell me that the processing date was July 18th and to call back when the date moved, and I proceeded to tell him "Listen, that date means nothing, I personally know of people who filed in November and December who just recently got approved, so don't tell me they're only processing apps before July 18th, because I happen to know for a fact you're full of it." He quickly backed off and said since I know of people who've been approved that far after me that he would get a service inquiry going to find out what's going on. Now I don't know if it will actually help in the end, probably not, or if I will even get any concrete info, again probably not, but one thing for sure, it got them to stop quoting the July 18th date as soon as I said that. So my question is, November and December NOA2ers, do you care if we (meaning black hole filers of late July, Aug, Sep and Oct) personally reference you guys when we call BS to USCIS on the July 18th date? It would be one way that you could help a ton of people that you say you're praying for. Thanks!

I say, "why not??". None of it is fair in the great scheme of things. I am an Oct 1st filer and while I'm pleased for these Nov-Dec approvals, I am also incredibly disheartened =[

I don't think they'll mind..if i was one of them, I wouldn't mind..after all, they are not the ones who have been waiting for 6,7,8+ months.

When someone is told they will have a service request open for them, are they given a confirmation # or a receipt #?

I mean how do they know that the person on the phone really will do a service request and isn't just bs'ing them to get them off the phone?

just like anything else... wait two to three weeks for the snail mail confirmation. I processed a service request for something totally different and they told me to wait almost three weeks for the hard copy but the did give me the reference number on the spot

I had an Infopass meeting today, face to face. When I said I knew of people getting approved in Nov and Dec. The person stumbled. Then said, is this a friend of yours you're speaking about. Don't think they take to kindly to us knowing so much about there lies and incompetency.

It just occurred to me why the USCIS is processing Nov and Dec. After all, if you process July and August now, you only extend your avg processing time. meanwhile, you bang out the Dec ones, and you bring the average processing time down from 7.5 months closer to 5. Then when Congresspeople are getting on your case about processing backlog, you say "what processing back log?" I am sure your constituent has a hang up in his app and we'll get to it as soon as possible.

This is truly maddening and sickening, yet exactly what I think is going on. Honestly, I can't believe it.

I called USCIS today and spoke to a Tier 2 person. I told him I knew of people personally, without an expedite, who were approved from November. The tier two person then told me, "It is first come, first served, unless there is an expedite." ####### did he not just hear what I said???

Yeah, they've pulled that on me before. My favorite was "then why don't you ask them what they did?"

The biggest waste of your time and nerves is calling the customer service for USCIS.

Well, at least this time after all that he put in a service request for me (which I know will probably just be a letter saying "we have a backlog - wait 120 days before contacting us again") but at least this time I could finally put in a useless service request.
