Hello all....So, after perusing ALL the paperwork and directions and EVERYTHING...my husband and I have found yet another conflicting direction....My husband in Portugal fills out the DS 230 form....and sends it in? that's what it says....with supporting documents, etc. BUT...the directions for the EMBASSY that he is assigned to (PRS=Paris) says that he brings that FORM WITH HIM TO HIS INTERVIEW...which implies that if he sends it in to be processed in New Hampshire NVC, then he won't HAVE it WITH him. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHh :help:

Here is what it says:Please bring originals and copies of all documents applicable to your case on the day of your interview, even if you have already submitted them to NVC and/or USCIS.

!!!!!

that's is a nonsence!Your application will be refused as incomplete if you fail to bring all required documentation.

and then says which documents you must bring

Form DS-230, Part 2

Passport

Two unretouched 2 X 2 color photographs on a white background.

The most updated original or certified birth certificate available

(which is also to send by mail)

don't make sence

Police certificate(s)

(the same problem)

Marriage certificate:

(you must send me by mail though)

Unopened medical exam results:

Chronopost” envelope AND

Form 1-864, Affidavit of Support

(the one we ve filled out already I think)

Original documents that establish a relationship between the petitioner and the beneficiary.

(we already sent that)!!!!!!!!!

Help?

Are we supposed to have 2 certified copies of birth certificates? 2 certified copies of marriage licenses? 2 medical reports? etc? One to send in to the NVC AND one to take to his interview? We're both so exhausted with all these conflicting sets of directions that contradict each other and are just wishing there could be some ray of light showing us what to F ing do. why must it say in ONE place to do ONE thign, then on another site/link, it says something else that contradicts what was previously stated? Anyone with any words of wisdom? We're both so confused :blink::wacko::blink::unsure::crying::crying:

Print TWO copies of the DS-230. Send one and bring one. When you receive the letter for your interview the letter will tell you what they want you to bring.

No the NVC sends ALL THE ORIGINALS to the embassy. You do not need to bring any originals or certified copies with you unless you want to get certified copies of all of his documents but it's not needed. Bring photocopies of everything including the DS-230, just in case they are asked for as well as his medical results in their SEALED envelope. You can also and should also bring relationship information. DO NOT expect anything that you sent to the USCIS for relationship information to actually make it to embassy. Sometimes it doesn't even make it to the NVC!

Right now you are NOT dealing with the Embassy. You are dealing with the NVC. You deal with the embassy when you go there for the interview.

Bring a copy. Send the original to the NVC. They forward everything. I suggest that you maybe stop reading the embassy website and concentrate on the NVC because they are the ones doing this part of the process. It might be less confusing for you :) I find the embassy websites confusing as well.

That's a medical info/how-to - not what you said, at all. no mention of ds-230 anywhere in this document.

You've given the wrong url.

Please paste the url containing the info about the ds-230. Thanks !

I would contact the NVC and ask them what you should do. If you are required to bring originals maybe the NVC will let you just send photocopies to them. Call and ask! Or else what I would do is keep photocopies of the originals and bring that with you to the embassy.

You can also email or call the embassy and ask them directly - "I am supposed to forward all of my originals to the NVC however you require me to bring them to the interview as well. Am I supposed to go get certified copies from the issuer to bring with me or will a photocopy do since the embassy should be receiving everything from the NVC?"

SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE????? Isn't this SOOOOOOOO CONFUSING???? If YOU guys are confused, imagine this idiot here! I mean, when I read that, my HEAD started spinning! I did call the NVC and got some guy on the phone who was probably hungry, waiting to go on his lunch break, and I was the one call holding him up, and he was rushing my questions, and I asked him about the contradiction on the site, and he said to send EVERYTHING to the NVC, and that at the time of the interview, the originals would be sent to the embassy. But he was rushing his answer, as well as rushing ME when I was explaining it to him, so I don't 100% trust his answer. I'll call again tomorrow and hope for someone who doesn't hate their job and who wants to help me out.
