Anyone thinking of getting married to an Ukrainian woman, please feel free to contact me. I have lots of valuable information to make your process faster and easier. We spent a month getting our documents together, I went to Ukraine on 11/1; married 11/10; and filed and was approved on my I-130 on 11/14!! :) Interview can be scheduled within 3 weeks and she can have her visa two days later.

The embassy in Kyiv was WONDERFUL and very helpful. We made a couple mistakes on forms and they allowed us to correct right their and were very friendly. My hats off to the people in the US embassy in Kyiv!!! I expect no issues with interiew.

The biggest issue was preparing RAGS and ZAGS and the Church to allow us to marry all within 7 days. It took alot of ahead preparations and incentives and smiles and begging. And be prepared to have your paper work rejected by Ukrainian government officials until you offer them incentives to allow your paper work to go through. They like to take advantage of americans.

I also recommend to have an Ukrainian wedding, best wedding I have ever experienced and its VERY important to her family. It will also ease the transition for them to accept you and that you are taking their daughter away to america. The Ukrainians are wonderful family oriented people, and you need to respect that. I and my family that I brought over for my wedding, had a wonderful experience.

Thanks, and to the both of you as well. We initially thought about having her come over on a K-1, but there is over a 6 month wait and we been talking daily for 8 months and spent a couple trips together, and we knew we would marry anyway, so decided to marry and go DCF route. So if you ever decide to marry while waiting for your I-129 and K-1 Visa, you can still switch over to a DCF and have her in US in a month!! ! :)

Hi! Congrats! I plan on doing DCF in Romania this summer. I have only read about one member doing DCF in Romania. What I mean is I have come across one member who shared her DCF experience in Romania thoroughly on here. But that was a long time ago. Seemed like a breeze there, too but that was only ONE story I read about. Anyway, congrats again and even though you did it in Ukraine, thanks for sharing the good news and information.

Thanks Sylvia, and good luck to you, but I do have to state, its not a breeze!!!! Sonya and I spent 80% of our time together in Ukraine running around and getting papers signed, begging people to process our paper work. It would of been little easier if we did not want to get all done in 2 weeks. Also we had to entertain my family and by the end of the trip we were exhausted and Sonya actually got a little sick and slept a whole day. The embassy was wonderful. Just make sure all your and your future husbands documents are copied, translated, notorized, and I recommend apostilled. Then make copies again!!!! Turn in the copies during your filing of I-130, KEEP the originals, and the original translations, you will need these for your interviews and need them when you goto your new country.

So good luck to you and feel free to contact me with any questions.

John
