My fiance had a medical done before the interview for the K-1 visa. When filing the I-693 forms. Do you have to do another medical once in the U.S?

Hi, congratulations you have graduated from the K-1 forum and should now consider posting in the AOS from Family Visa Forum. A mod will likely move your posting to that forum.

Here is a recent thread from that forum that speaks about the I-693 requirements:

The AOS process can seem a little overwhelming, but this site has some great resources, including the AOS Guide:

Happy trails!

No. Another medical is not required if you had one within a year of filing for AOS. If you had all the required vaccinations at the time of the K-1 medical and they are all marked off on a properly filled out DS-3025, then you can skip the civil surgeon and I-693 and just send in a copy of your DS-3025 with your AOS paperwork. If you need to see a civil surgeon, then you should call around until you find one that will do the vaccination transcriptions only on the I-693(page 1 and 5) and not insist you get and pay for a whole new medical.

I agree.

I filed my AOS (January 2013) within a year of Medical Exam (07/11/2012) &

submitted a copy of my DS-3025 (vaccination paperwork) along with this lovely cover page...

*See attachment for copy of Form DS-3025*

Vaccination Documentation Worksheet (Form DS-3025)

from Panel Physician.

Per instructions for I-693, the form is not required as a medical exam for K-1 visa was completed within the last year.

Medical Examination for issuance of non-immigrant fiancée K1-Visa completed 'dd-mm-yyyy'

Personal Experience: Before filing, I almost went to a civil surgeon, inquired about transcribing.. They wanted me to do another exam! And then informed me, 'the Dr.'s retiring,so he can't see you. #######! that would of meant I'd have to fly from Maui to Honolulu, Oahu to see a CS.

Sometimes the wording on the USCIS site, the instructions can be tricky to understand.

Thank goodness VJ set me straight.
