Do you know what I hate?

I hate it when someone cuts you off on the road and doesn't acknowledge it.

I hate it when people drive the speed limit in the fast lane.

I hate it when there is a song I hate on the radio and all the stations play it at the same time.

 As you can tell I just drove home

OK, you asked

I cannot believe the personal ####### people post on these boards and then act dumbfounded when people respond unfavorably.

I have been sickened in the past (here and in other groups) the way American women prop up the men from MENA countries while insulting the MENA women.

It disgusts me how some people infantilize their men, talking about them like proud momma's at their first steps. Pride in a husband is one thing, acting like he is a boy is another.

I hate the orientalism syndrome that goes one, where the men are like exotic possessions, while at the same showing disdain for the culture and/or religion.

Thank you for saying this. I agree. And then some. Kisses,

Sarah

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Another great one and spot on

I hate the orientalism syndrome that goes one, where the men are like exotic possessions, while at the same showing disdain for the culture and/or religion.

Is it any wonder that women infantilize their men when you see the vast age differences between them? This is especially poignant when the man is in his 20's - a time I think most Moroccan men (sorry! generalization!) are still living at home, watching soccer at cafes and taking pictures of themselves in muscle t-shirts while fraterniziing with hordes of ambisexual-looking cohorts.

I know the age difference topic has been beaten to death, but it really IS a big trend that contributes to what you are talking about. The "orientalism syndrome" too -- you are right on in saying that. It is compartmentalization, putting this marriage experience in a sort of box to bring out and show off to oneself. I see that this rarely has anything to do with whether the woman has converted or not.

This is why I have joined some groups thinking I would have something in common with other wives of Moroccans and found instead a group of scary people that seem to be sugar-mamas to a motely crue of Moroccan cyber-casanovas (albiet "really nice guys") 20 years and generally 100 pounds their junior.

Sorry, I am a rude cookie tonight.

Wow a Yemeni in our midst! Welcome aboard (F)

Ok back to negativity :P

i love my husband!!
