To the VJ/Vietnam filing veterans,

How long after HCMC gets Packet 3 do I call to find out what her interview date is? Is this recommended? If not/so why?

How common is it for her to get her Packet 4 in time for said interview?

Thanks in advance for the advice,

Your neighborhood Lurker

Hi Lurker,

Yes. I would recommend calling the US Consualte in HCMC after packet 3 forms have been submitted. Doing so will allow you to possibly learn of your interview date before you receive packet 4 in the mail. In regards to how long you should wait to call after packet 3, in our case we called the Consulate a couple of days after submitting the packet 3 forms to confirm their receipt, and then called on a once-per-week basis from that point on to inquire about the progress. Looking at our timeline, for reference, it was about a month-and-a-half after submitting packet 3 that packet 4 was mailed to us.

Receiving packet 4 before the scheduled interview will probably depend on where the US Consulate in HCMC is sending the mail to (i.e. city, province, etc.). We had no trouble receiving mailings in HCMC from the Consulate.

Hope this helps!

Lurker,

May I ask about the process on the Package 3? What had your Vo sent in on the package 3?

1. DS-230 Part I

2. DS-2001

3. I-134 (whatever required in the Form)

4. Does your Vo submit the Police Report?

5. The Single Status Form?

6. ????

Your input will be really helpful for everyone here.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply. Did your Vo request for the Police Report and Single Certifcation yet? IF she did, how long does it take to get it?

She requested the Single Certificate 4 months ago and the police certificate 4 months ago. It took about 1 month for the police certificate and only 3 days for the Single...This was in Hanoi of course.

I guess I need to tell her again so she can get it done. Thanks, and good luck on your case. But your Vo is in Saigon now right or still in the Hanoi?

She lives in central Hanoi (near us embassy), and won't go to Saigon until packet 4 arrives and she gets her interview date. Then she will stay in Saigon with a few cousins there.
