I don't know what's worse, this sad story, or the fact that Ev has to defend this thread from people who are trying to cause a ruckus.

The usual trolls who get a pass. No big deal.

Victim blaming lead to her suicide. Read the article. The students at her school, who all got to see the video of her rape, harassed her, called HER the #######. Calling a rape victim a ####### for being raped is victim blaming.

The author of the article never made that stretch, to employ the use of the label 'victim blaming'.

That was you.

Alas.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Alas.

That's what victim blaming is. If you don't understand it, maybe read it again and it'll help.

Is making fun of someone for what happened to her the same as blaming her for it having happened?

No. But surely even someone like yourself or Darnell can understand how calling a girl a ####### for being raped, or asking if you can have sex with her too is implying that a) she enjoyed it and b) it wasn't rape to begin with.

Implying those things make the victim feel like SHE was at fault. Hence, victim blaming.

Interesting, if true.

So, you've given an example of a suicide in Canada and your claiming an international problem for victim blaming?

Right?

Please elucidate, expound, on why this is international and why this is a 'victim-blaming suicide' ?

[i ask, cause the author did a really sh|tty job already..]

Thanks in advance !

Yes. It is an international problem. These stories come out of all countries.

I refuse to keep dealing with you or responding to your sh*t, so you can go troll someone else now. Good day!

This is a sad incident - something like this should never happen.

All the present conditions including social media, children's behaviour, also to what they are exposed are responsible.

parents not taking responsibility of their children's behaviour or even when they try to do they are stopped.

No, bullying has reached an all time high due to social networking. It used to be back in the day once school is over, you could go home and have your family and close friend to help you deal with it. Now, it's FB, Twitter, Four Square, and whatever social media folks can get their hands on. I've seen a story where a teenager moves to a completely different state, and the bullying followed her there. She killed herself as well.

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

Ah - this linkage I can understand. Thanks for writing it, now it makes sense.

Surely we can blame the cops more, though, yes? Smells like a botched investigation from the get-go.
