Well,

I have read now several posts that greencards, ead's had been returned to sender, because people had moved and the address wasn't current any more.

At the same time, a lot of people say don't change your address while in the AOS process...

Well, we already moved and I would like to know what will happen.

My husband's mailing address will stay the same(old address) since his mom lives there and receives/ saves his mail for him and he just goes there to pick it up.

I already put in an address change through the local post office and now I am wondering whether I would receive any kind of mail from USCIS at my new address or not.

What would you recommend?

Do nothing, cause mail will be forwarded to new address?

Fill out the forms for address change and mail it to USCIS?

Thanks,

*C* :star:

No, the USPS won't forward mail from USCIS, it will get returned to sender. If you've moved you need to file a change of address with USCIS and phone up the hotline to confirm it.

The problem happens when the US Post office gets the mail, for some reason they wont forward the mail from USCIS, they just return it.

It is best not to move while this is being processed, or keep address at a parent's home, or wait until after moving to file the AOS paperwork.

Many call USCIS to get the address changed only to still not get mail from the USCIS.

Worst case is when an AOS interview appointment letter gets sent, lost, interview gets missed, then suddenly the couple is facing a deportation proceeding.

You need to send a copy of the AR-11 to all that are involved, Service Center, Field office, Kentucky, and follow up to make sure that they have the correct address.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

You only need to send the AR-11 to the Kentucky address. This is mandatory within 10 days of your move and this is whether you have an application in process or not. It is not necessary to send it to everyone.

If you do have an application pending, you need to call the hotline and change it with them. Call several times if you have to. (I had to call only twice, lol). Do not give up on this until you get a letter in the mail at your new address confirming the address has been changed on your applications. It will be a mess later on if you don't.

Finally the sponsor needs to fill out the I-865 form (change of address for sponser), send to the address on the form. See? It's easy! It is actually as long as you keep on top of it, and it'll save a whole lot of heartache down the road.
