maybe there's a conspiracy of 4 year olds?

http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/21920026/police-6-year-old-accidentally-shot-by-4-year-old

nah, not yet. Need at least 20 of them to gang together and shoot people.

Would that matter somehow?

Based on a timeline, you betcha.

But her timeline isn't that recent, and her husband had 3 years already, to teach her about gun safety.

Teach her about gun safety? He's the one who was showing loaded guns to 4 year olds.

I'm anti-drunk idiots showing loaded guns to kids, really.

Dont twist the fact - you are known to do it but don't do it.

Pls read the article you posted or maybe you never went beyond headline.

Guy was not drunk nor was he showing the weapon to kid.

His only mistake he had a round chambered but thats how all the official of law-enforcement are trained -to keep a round in chamber all the time.

No, he wasn't ! he was showing the guns to a relative, and the 4 year old just came in.

Have a full-run at the youtube vid I posted, as it 'splains all.

For HER to know about gun safety should have been useful, as she could have snatched the weapon from the 4 year old without it discharging.

I read the article.

The article wasn't clear about who the relative was, since the 4 year old is a nephew of the deputy. It wasn't the kid. Excellent.

This wasn't his service weapon, it was his personal weapon. And from the article, it was left laying on a bed. The boy picked it up when he walked into the room with the woman and shot her.

Were the other adults still in the room? How'd this happen?

It seems nobody even knew the boy was in the room. Odd.

More info:

In an unusual move, Deputy Fanning told his story in an e-mail he sent to CNN affiliate WKRN.

He wrote that he had set down his off-duty weapon "only seconds before the tragedy."

"I would like the viewers to know that officers of Wilson County do not make a habit of leaving loaded guns simply lying around," he wrote.

"The door to the room the accident happened in stays locked unless we were sleeping or we were in it," Fanning wrote. "This was the only loaded gun in the house other than my duty weapon, which was locked away."

Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan said Fanning had been showing "another person that was there at the house some of his weapons he had locked in a secure gun safe," reported CNN affiliate WTVF.

No one saw the boy enter the room, WTVF quoted Bryan as saying.
