Hello

Just trying to get an idea how long it took to get the Canadian Police Certificate? I know the RCMP website states 18 weeks but was just wondering if it would be sooner. Let me know if you had any experience. Thanks much.

Oh goodness. I went to the RCMP and recieved my certificate within 10 minutes. I have never been in trouble though so didn't require fingerprints.

Hi,

If you need a police clearance with fingerprints and want to speed up the process, you could pay a company that is accredited by the RCMP to scan your ink fingerprints. The company then sends the electronic fingerprints to the RCMP and it takes three days to get the police clearance. The cheapest company I found is Safran Morpho (formely known as L-1 Identity Solutions). They accept money orders or credit card payments. It costs only $50 (incl. RCMP processing fee).

Safran Morpho (formerly L-1 Identity Solutions) is listed as an RCMP-Accredited Fingerprinting Companies on the RCMP's website.

rcmp-grc.gc.ca/rtid-itr/vulner-eng.htm

There are many other companies on the internet offering similar services. They all claim to be accredited by the RCMP but I can't find their names listed on the RCMP's website.

I was considering using that company to scan my fingerprints but I ended up getting a police clearance from my local police station (no fingerprints).

All depends where you are in Canada--each police station varies--but normally it is 1 of the easiest documents to get.

NO criminal history = NO fingerprinting required

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

if no fingerprint done, will take roughly 1-3 days, it is a name check and there is form at rcmp designed for immigration/visa purposes.

this is fast, what magic did you use? The staff at RCMP was nice and we were very luck to get it the next day.

But for 10 minutes, wow! That was quick, how did you do it?

I went to the SQ police station in my town ( i live in Quebec). Also took like 10 minutes... But i didn't need fingerprinting.

Does one have to wait for instructions from NVC before getting the police certificate step started? I'm just trying to get as much done as possible, rather than waiting for the instructions, so that it'll all be ready for when I receive the letter from NVc.

For MTl--they are valid for 1 year. Personally I would contact the police agency one is going to use--and see how long they take to produce the document! It truly is normally a simple document to get! And ensure they check ALL names that you have used (if married before, changed ur name)

Mine took 15 minutes at the local police station. I did not require any fingerprinting so all I had to do was pay and wait while they processed it.

Question.....My husband got his police certificate and fingerprints done in October 2012.....we thought he had to get fingerprints even though he does not have criminal history. We just received an interview date for MTL for May 30th.....does he need to repeat his police certificate and fingerprinting? I thought they were only good for 6 months for immigrating purposes.....starting to worry here, lol :help:

I would get it redone since its from 2012. I wouldn't want to risk getting there and them saying this is not current because it is 2013. Papers say 1 thing but IOs can be picky and ask for whatever they want from you.
