but I am a little scared of using this address, since my friend that lives there is a illegal immigrant.

there's 2 buckets, pick one, aye?

1. proof of USA Domicile or

2. proof of re-establishing USA Domicile.

Canadiens have this same problem and write about it often - have a look ?

If I understand you correctly. you remained away from the US for 4 years after having resided legally - green card - in the US. If that is correct, you may have lost your residence. PLease check link below:

If the grounds upon which you obtained your residence still stand, i.e. you are still married to a US citizen, you may need to reapply and start the process again.

Good luck!

Understood. If you're a US citizen you will need to resume residence in the US before she can enter the country. You should be OK using your friend's address in the meanwhile, if that is the address to which your mail is delivered.

Things we used to show intent of re-establishing domicile were:

- a copy of an official letter of admittance into a university addressed to the USC

- a housing application by the USC for on-campus housing for himself and his wife (me).

- an explanation by the USC that he intends to return to the US to go to grad school

Other things you could use:

- a lease you signed / a mortgage application

- registrations with rental agents or realtors

- school applications for your children (if any)

- a written job offer

You could also send additional evidence to show that you have always had intent to return (add this into your personal explanation) by showing proof such as:

- a US bank account

- your voter registration

- deeds or ownership papers of property in the US.

ok, instead of a lease contract, can I get a letter from someone saying that I can stay over their house.(her cousin)

so far i got these:

- flying tickets showing that I went to US to prepare our move;

- Bank account;

- Valid Driver's license;

- I have a active SS# ( I dont know if that can be a proof);

- job offer ( i didnt get it yet, but thinking of).

If you get the job you are being offered that would help tremendously. Also make sure you have filed US taxes during the time you were out of the country.
