Our pre-processing for the K-3 visa is complete. NVC wrote on March 19, 2013 with this message:

The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing

of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner

and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

I'm wondering when I can expect to hear from them again and when our interview might be scheduled for. We are waiting for an interview in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Thank you!

It would be very rare for a K-3 to go through; typically, the I-129F is closed and the I-130 petition proceeds, leading to the chance for a CR-1 visa (superior to K-3 anyway). Is it 100% certain that you remain on the K-3 path?

People are apparently waiting several weeks for interviews. Also, have you read these threads in terms of what you might be up against in Guayaquil?

Thanks, TBoneTX! I appreciate the information and links. Those posts are all from 3 - 5 years ago. Anything more up-to-date?

We applied for the K-3 visa and I haven't been told that we were switched and everything has proceeded as normal.

Yep NVC doc intake. Come over to the April NVC filers thread in the progress subforum. Read the first two posts and all their links.

Oops, I guess it is an IR1 visa now. Any details on that?
It's superior to the K-3 because a green card is sent to the beneficiary very soon after arrival in the U.S.

The Guayaquil threads contain horror stories that still aren't officially over. VJ members have had increased success there by following the admonitions, chief among which is that the petitioner absolutely MUST be present for the first interview. (A couple of exceptions have been reported, but they are NOT enough to establish a pattern.)

Because you're on the CR-1/IR-1 path now, I'll transfer this thread to the CR-1 Case Progress subforum. Keep us updated there, and also participate in the NVC thread that Niki has suggested, si man.

Prepare to wait weeks and weeks for an interview. Most countries get their interview date within a week or two, but Guayaquil is so backlogged and slow that I've been waiting for going on six weeks and have heard absolutely nothing.

Also, please be prepared for the things mentioned in the thread Tbone posted. The fact that they're old does NOT mean that those things aren't still happening. Guayaquil is a nightmare in most aspects, scheduling and interviews being a main one, so make sure you are more than prepared with evidence if you want your spouse to be given the visa. Also, the USC should do everything in their power to be there for the interview. MANY people have been turned down and told to come back with their American spouse at a later date.

Also, please update your timeline.
