Hello! My boyfriend is currently in the US on a tourist visa (he got here about 2 months ago) and we have decided to get married. We've been together about two years and this will be a bona fide marriage - he did not enter the US with plans for us to get married.

Now, how do we go about applying? From the guides here, I don't see a way for us to get married and adjust his status without him first leaving the US. I was looking at the "Marriage Based Visa Comparison Table" and I think the IR-1 / CR-1 visa is the best route, but the wording makes it look like he will become a legal resident WHEN he enters the US, even though he is already here.

Also, would we file the I-485 and the I-130 at the same time? Is there anything we need to do before getting married, or do we start the process after?

Thank you!

This is for filing adjustment of status while inside the USA. If there was no intent to marry an stay in the USA before he arrived then you can file while he is here and he does NOT leave the USA until he has his green card.
