Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum. I am from India and just Immigrated to US on IV. I came here on FB2 visa and will my GC in a month. My parents insist me to marry a girl from India so, they want me to go back after 3 months and see some girls and then marry as i am 30 yrs now. I know that the current waiting period is 2 - 2.5 yrs for spouses of Permanent Residents.

Can i leave back to India after 3 months after i get my GC and SSN and then register marriage there in India and stay with my spouse for 2-3 months and then come back to US and file Petition...???

Will there be any problem in just registering marriage and then filing or we have to marry in traditional Indian wedding style with lots of relatives and ceremonies and then only it would be safe. I want to ask this b'coz my parents r US Citizens and they wont be able to attend my wedding in India due to their jobs....so, will this create a problem with USCIS when i file for my spouse.???

Apart from I-130 form and G-325a forms, which other documents should i include while filing i.e. Marriage Cert., affidavit form parents...etc...

Please i request to give valuable suggestion from expert members and also from Indian members who must have filed for their spouses. I am originally from Ahmedabad, Gujarat...

Ur suggestions highly appreciated.

Thanking You

Yes, You can marry a girl after you get a GC. There won't be a problem with the register wedding.

When you file:

you need:

I-130

G-325A

Marriage Certificate

all evidence such as: Photos, airline itinerary, boarding pass, copy of your passport, wedding invitation, honeymoon pics, hotel bills or whatever you name it. On safe side I will put Both of you DOB certificate too. Best of luck with your Journey!!!!

Thankyou very much Anvi...We were concerned abt registering marriage with registrar of marriage in India coz nowadays Immigration people scrutinize spouses visas very sharply. And also i have heard from some experiences that during Interview they also ask applicants that why they only registered marriage and not celebrated by a grand wedding.....I know people come to India....register marriage with some family relatives and then go for honeymoon ...stay for a month and then return to India and file for their spouses....

As per ur suggestion abt filing do i need to also send photos with I-130...???

The requirements say to submit I-130, G325a forms, Marriage Cert., affidavits from relatives, adding spouse in insurance policies etc. I think pics r needed during Interview stage ....

Can u please list me some evidences that i must submit with I-130...so that i can accordingly plan when i go to India...

Comments highly appreciated...

Thankyou again very much...

" Rainybreeze "

you are on GC, you can do what other OPs has suggested.

But it is going to take 4-5 years before your wife can come.

You are going to file under F2 category that has limit of 114,200 visa every year.

Wrong. Waiting time for F2A is 2 and a half years.

See the priority dates being processed here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html

Agreed with you " apple21 " if you are looking at perfect world.

But actual world is different for that part of world, it takes good 4 years or so.... But really want to believe your info.

I was not looking at the numbers/dates from DOS, I was telling the time frame based on the actual events with friends/family.

For previous years, yes it was longer. I am referring to the visa bulletin NOW. The processing times NOW is what matters.
