Hello everyone!

I am a US citizen and my Fiancé is French we live 1 hour from Paris and want to (as everyone else) return to the US ASAP. We already filed all of the paper work for our wedding in France and it all was approved, had our interviews with the mayor as well. We will be married June 7, 2013. We would lie to file immediately to get the paper work done as soon as possible so I am trying to do all that I can and will even call the US Embassy this week to ensure I understand things correctly and clearly.

My current questions:

1 What paper work can I print and fill out now (wait to send it after marriage)???

2.I have another US Sponsor (non-relative). As on paper I do not make much money....lots and lots of volunteer work so on paper I look poor. But can the sponsor be the friend be the main sponsor??

3.Can anyone direct me to a few links that would be good for me to read and study and basically memorize the process.

4.I have 2 Jobs and family and friends waiting for us the second we can return....as far as I can see the earliest is 6 months.......it that the Maximum earliest?

Thanks everyone

Oh I forgot to mention........when we hired our lawyer to get married we told her what we are doing (she is legal in USA and France). Said we can get my fiancée green card in 8 months.....but she wanted a considerable amount of money to hire her. Wuld you find it advisable to think about that? Or is that mostly to just fill out paperwork we can do ourselves?

Reading the I-130 guide will help you understand a lot more.

1. Everything for the initial package.

2. No, you are the main sponsor no matter what. The friend is the co-sponsor. This information won't be needed until the second stage of the process, though.

3. Up in the "Guides" section at the top of the website.

4. It really depends. Since you are abroad, it may go a bit faster for you, but it might not. I-130s are all over the place timewise, now, but don't expect it that soon.

A lawyer does not make it faster, and I think that lawyer underestimated how long it can take. You can save your money if you are able to do your own paperwork by following directions.

The lawyer that advised you the fiance visa was faster Did she also tell you once you are married that they will deny you the visa. And if you use it to enter the US after you are married your spouse would be deportable at any time ( even after she gets US citizenship) for the rest of her life for visa fraud.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
