Hello friends,

I am little confused by one thing. I was checking everyone's time line and found that most of the I-130 petitions took around a year or more in approval. USCIS website says it takes 5 months. my friend got approved in 3 months ( all permanent residents filing for there spouses. is it really take that long for just I-130?

Please help me understand if I am understanding something wrong.

Thanks in advance.

For i-130 Spouse of Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR), yes it takes a long time to get the i-130 approved by USCIS.

If you are a US Citizen filing i-130 for your Spouse, the normal wait is 5 months (sometimes a bit more, some get lucky and gets approved sooner).

You can call NVC directly for a faster response.

If you have an iOS or Android phone/device, you can call NVC for free over WIFI via the MagicJack application. You can download it for free at the App Store or Play Store. I use MagicJack app to call NVC everyday to follow-up my case number.

Thank you for the app,

great deal of saving on phone calls

Yes July 3 (US date).

The dates posted on my timeline/signature are US dates. I'm in the Philippines and we are a day ahead so I just refer to the US date to avoid confusing myself. Lol.
