Need a little support :)

This is silly to post now, but I'm going to anyway. It wouldn't hurt.

I'm gearing up with my fiancee to apply for the I-129F in a few months, we're currently gathering all paperwork needed. But I can't help but worry that something will go wrong and all of this will leave me in heartache, like we'll get denied or something. She's from Canada. I guess I want a little support from those who've applied and have been through this that as long as our relationship is genuine, I don't have to worry. Again, it's silly but I wanted to post this. :)

Any support or kind words to put my mind at ease would be lovely.

Have peace of mind. Just follow the guidelines and submit all the documents needed then it will be fine. Don't worry that much just think positive. :)

 good advice!

I just sent my case in and I know how you are feeling but worrying isn't going to do much for you. Just make sure you do a lot of research on here and you should be good to go. Like rmcollins said try to be optimistic thinking of what could go wrong will drive you nuts. good luck to us all

Are you both free to marry? If so, good. Next, is there anything in her immigration/residency/criminal background that would cause her to be ineligible to be granted a visa?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We are both free to marry, financially meet requirements, and no past crimes to speak of. I really am probably worrying over nothing, but its nice to know that it is over nothing.

It's completely normal how you feel about it, it's a life changing desicion. I remember how scared I was day night before my then fiance and I submitted our k1 visa. We spent at least a month putting everything together and checking single item. We did this several time just to make sure everything was ok. The night before we prayed holding our package asking God that if this was meant for us, please let us be together as soon as possible. We were concerned cause are case is very special: we are 3rd/4th cousins. I know our blood bond its far but only for being related to each could mean a huge denial for us, but we still kept going waiting for the best. Thanked God everything turned out beyong great, we got our NoA2 4 month later, no RFEs, once our package reached the NVC stage it only took 3 day to be processed and fwrd to the Consulate. It took me 6 month and 3 weeks since we filled our petition until I finally moved to the US. It was quite a journey but you know what? It's worth it. You don't need to ve scared of anything, just be ready. If you notice, since I started my post I always refered the k1 petition as OURS. Actually it's mine, cause my now husband is the USC, Im the beneficiary. But I mean "ours" its because he was as commited as I was to this process. We worked as a team til the end, actually he went to the interview with and he was a great support that day. Im extremly proud of the way we handle al those 6 month and I can granted you this process will make you closer and more commited to each other. There will be times where the whole waiting can be exhausting, but that's when you have to show each other how much you want to be together. Since I started folliwing this website 2 years ago, i'd seen people who made it and people who don't, iron relationships and people where the process, just tear them apart. I think this whole waiting has a reason to be this harsh, so you can know how much you love each other and how much are you willing to risk to be with your loveone. Im not gonna lie to you, it's hard, but the day I ran into my husband arms when I arrived to the airport, that day pay off everything we went through. Now it's been a year since I moved in, and our commitment and our love is stronger than ever. We appreciate every moment together never taking anything for granted. In conclusions, it's ok to be scared as long as your faith remains intact, if you love each other and you are willing to be together, everything it's going to be fine...you will see! God bless you and congratssss!

Definately follow the guides in here and take a deep breath. Worrying before you send it is only going to drive you crazy and the wait is already enough to do that. We just submitted our package and now are in the waiting stage. I am also from Canada and really, if everything else is clear, there isn't anything to worry about. Triple and qaudruple check your package then kiss it goodbye, pray over it, what ever you feel you need to do as you send it off in the mail.

there is also a Canada Forum where you can get lots of support specific to the country.

best of luck.

Johnny,

I felt much the way that you're feeling. See here --

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/410945-k-1-journey-completed/

-- for some thoughts from "the other side" of the journey. Some of this won't make a lot of sense until later, when it's in context, but maybe you'll get some perspective on some things to think about.

Let me know how helpful it is to you, si man. :)

You did right by starting here! I felt the same as you at the beginning. It can all be soooo overwhelming. My husband and I were 20 and 21 years old when we sent his I-129F. We had no money, he couldn't get a job, I was a college student working as a substitute teacher. I honestly don't think we could have made it this far this smoothly without the help from the wonderful people on this forum. I'm not going to lie there were some pretty stressful times, but just know that whatever extra efforts you make will give you the piece of mind.

I went the K1 interview with my husband and I actually enjoyed that day as much as our wedding... It was an incredible feeling of accomplishment! B-)

your post and story really touched me - I cant wwait for that airport moment - I believe this is a true test of the commitment and faith one can have when they meet that one person who changes everything - as for me in this relationship I have grown so much on every level and finally understand what it truly means to be willing to do whatever it takes to be with the one you love - I just pray for our NOA2 to come soon and for all those out there going thru this journey..
