OMG - you gots a lot of movement?

GUZ IV will have to retrieve that casefile from the SAFEFILE system, and then will do something more for scheduling an interview.

EMAIL via their email web-portal is best, at the moment. Suggest you send something once a day, when they are open, to beg an interview date and emailed appointment letter.

Can Call DoS Hotline for casefile status, but they know stuff '1 day off' from what happened at GUZ IV.

Go Get Em !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Not enough movement in the first 6 months. :bonk:

I called DOS today and was told GUZ "will request Packet 3 electronically." Neither of us has gotten an email about it (yet). Also, it was filled out and emailed to NVC as a part of the IV package two weeks ago. I wonder if DOS' information is even correct/up-to-date. Of course I'll send an inquiry Sunday night from GUZ's website, but has anyone heard of this issue before?

well, packet 3 is the DS-230 and I-864 , so I'm guessing DoS is confused, going by what is done for paper-casefiles and not EP-casefiles.

It's possible, DoS Hotline can get confused on this thing - so bear that in mind.

Keep hitting the GUZ IV webform email thingie, remind them you are an EP case and the stuff is already in SAFEFILE, and they can easily pull it , and WHAT'S THE NEXT AVAILABLE interview date you can give us?

DoS Hotline is useful for checking status, though. They are clueless, usually, for asking questions.

I’m getting anxious again. Last night just when I was ready to send them an email as Darnell suggested, both of us got an email that told us to submit Packet 3 (DS-230, copy of passport & 2 photos) to the IV unit by MAIL. I emailed them right away via the website and told them we’re enrolled in EP and they already have everything. No reply yet so far. With the Boston explosions today, I don’t know if their reply will be delayed. Should we mail Packet 3 just in case? If we mail it, will the IV unit get it in a few days or will it take the mailroom a few weeks to “process”?

The incident in Boston will have no affect on Consulate operations in Guangzhou.

Give them a few days to reply to your inquiry.

If you are enrolled in EP and had already email them your packet 3, it will take about a week for them to open your email. that drove me nuts why they cant use electronic application over scan and email.

curses, foiled again !

Keep at it for SAFEFILE extraction, request it via email.

He's got to bring the originals to the interview anyway.

Usually, on an expedite request, when things 'stop' at NVC, the IV unit asks for 'the rest of the documents' to continue.

IMO, a Vice Consul not look in SAFEFILE at all, since this email came in. Or things were lagged, all the way round.

I still say bombard them, once a day, with the same email in the IV form-email thingie, until you actually get a response.

Big surprise for hubby today when the VO greeted him in Persian! laughing.gif He was also the first one interviewed, as soon as he finished the fingerprinting. It was almost like the VO was waiting/looking for him. The first couple questions were asked in Persian but hubby kept answering in English because that's what we practiced. VO then switched to English completely. He was out by 9:15 and we're approved!!! kicking.gif

Regarding the expedite request with EP, if all documents were "normal", it probably wouldn't speed things up a whole lot. But in our case, one of his documents was a little different and NVC sent us a checklist. We probably saved a few more weeks by not having to respond to it.

Thanks again to everyone on VJ that helped us. You guys are great!

Well, I'm scheduled to be back in the U.S. in 10 days, but I'm not making any travel arrangements for him until the visa is in hand. If everything goes super fast I guess he can come back with me, but I'm not counting on it. Right now I'm nagging him to go to Guilin together! tongue.png

Congratulations! I am curious, did they ask him if he was a member of the Communist party?

Thanks. No, he didn't get the CCP question, but he was asked about things specific to Iranian nationals.
