I sent my fiance the affidavits of support and financial evidence today, and I was given a customs form. I'm really concerned because there doesn't seem to be a way to track it. It's a customs form CN 22. What bothers me the most is that it says on the receipt that the item may be opened officially. WHY!? Why in the world do they need to open my package that contains papers?!!

And they almost certainly won't open it. They simply do not have time unless they have a good reason to be suspicious. Think positive, it will get there fine.

USPS has been problematic in the past. The general advice when sending forms like this is don't trust USPS, send it via FedEx, DHL, TNT, or UPS. Basically anyone but the USCIS. For each story that says "I've never had a problem" there is a story about someone who has.

Fortunately, things do arrive when sent via priority or express mail. Just sometimes a little late!

Talking to my local USPS people they would never ask me to fill out a custom form when it was obvious paper, if it was a box or something bulky I had to fill out the form. From the perspective of waiting for packages from my wife's mum it is always faster to send things from here versus things from there.

When you send something as in the tax forms just make sure it is flat and they should just let you send it. Just my experience but then again I do live in Texas and I am sure people in the USPS are used to the rules.
