Your file is submitted to a service center based on the state the USC resides in - it is not random. So, no, it wouldn't work.

12/19/2012 - Mailed I-129F via USPS Express
12/21/2012 - I-129F arrives in Lewisville, TX according to USPS tracking (delayed because it's the USPS)
12/21/2012 - NOA1 date of receipt
12/26/2012 - NOA1 received via text/email
12/27/2012 - Checked cashed by USCIS
12/31/2012 - Alien Number changed (NOA1 hardcopy in post, but was away for 2 weeks prior)

05/16/2013 - NOA2 received via text/email

05/20/2013 - NOA2 hardcopy received in post

05/28/2013 - NVC receives packet and assigns London case number

07/15/2013 - Sent all paperwork/medical complete

08/23/2013 - Receive Interview Date

09/19/2013 - Interview

A few months ago everyone was complaining about Vermont and California was processing faster. Now the tables have turned, its the luck of timing ....unfortunately as another person answered, where your file goes has to do with what state you live in , sometimes when they get overwhelmed with petitions they start sending files to local offices or where there is less work. Good luck, we have all had our share of waiting !

Can't we refile and send it to Vermont? I think this could be faster than waiting on California. ? Has anyone tried this ....is it possible?

The USC could move house to a state closer to Vermont :blush:

i don't think it's so much geographic as statistical. I believe they are attempting to split the states up to give an approximately equal workload to each center. There's no way to perfectly balance the workload, but I'd guess that they use historical state data to divide up which states go to which center.

Of course that would actually make sense, so on second thought, there's not much of a chance of the government doing it that way

Yep afraid it's true, my petition went to CSC not VSC. Really doesn't matter where it goes as long as they get moving here one of these days. I would love to have her here for the end of summer but am not sure now? I wanted to spend our birthdays together this year in the US but not sure I can get it all done before mid August? Our birthdays are one day apart,she is one year and one day younger than I am!:)

Also, I should note that, as of last night, I am going to be a guinea pig in what happens if you change address in a way that requires your petition be processed at the other service center. I filed as an IL resident originally and my petition was sent to CSC as a result. But last night, after feeling satisfied that I'd exhausted any possibility I had for receiving individual remedies through my elected representatives in the near future, I decided it was time to take a chance and switch to a NY address I recently acquired from work and where I will officially reside full time again starting in May. This wasn't an easy decision to make, actually. I will still be maintaining a residence in IL for the foreseeable future along with my NY address, so I suppose I could have stayed with the CSC if I wanted to, and I am afraid of the unknown factor of how long it will take to transfer to VSC (if that's in fact what they choose to do). But I simply cannot imagine any transfer prolonging the process beyond the likely delays for my filing date as calculated through my spreadsheet. Definitely putting my petition where my mouth is as far as my projections go, haha. In any case, I'll let you all know how it goes...
