Hello all, I have a question regarding having a joint sponsor for the affidavit of support. My fiance is worried that having a joint sponsor will make us much more likely to have our petition rejected. Is this true?

thank you for the help

It does seem that accepting a cosponsor is at the discretion of the local embassy. You might want to read the reviews for your embassy to try to find out. If your embassy does accept cosponsors then having one will not negatively impact your petition.

There are a few embassies that notoriously give K1 applications with joint sponsors a hard time, but I've never heard of it from Iceland or anywhere in Northern Europe. Don't worry :)

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

Good news, it looks like this will not be an issue after all. We had a silly moment and mixed up our forms. Looks like I can file the AOS myself without any trouble. It's times like this when I wish I just had a normal job and wasn't self employed, paperwork is easier hah. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hey there Married in MT! Good luck with your AOS, we're in MT too, just filed our AOS paperwork last week and got our NOA1 yesterday...fingers crossed for a speedy and uncomplicated approval, I'm the foreigner, been here since December 30 and looking forward to getting my EAD and being able to work. Where in MT are you if you don't mind me asking? I've met one other person on VJ who has moved to MT, from Australia, he is in Polson and has been really helpful with advice on this whole process. We're near Whitefish in North West MT.

Nice to meet ya, I'm in the Bozeman/Belgrade area myself. Good luck! I hope everything goes well and it's smooth sailing for you. We are still very early in our process, we have at least 2 more months before we even hear back so I have time to contemplate how I cross these bridges. I wish I was sooner though.
