Please can someone tell me the difference between the 2 certificates? The reason i ask is because, I asked around in India and Nobody has a clue(out of the people i asked) about the Passport Clearance Certificate.

When I ask around people, the only thing they heard of is the Police Clearance Certificate.

Please can some let me know:

1.Whats the difference between the 2 PCC's?

2.Whats the process around getting them and Where can i get it from?

I appreciate yall's response.

Thanks,

Chris

Longtime back, to get police clearance certificate, one had to go to their nearest police station and apply for it. Now everything has changed. You have to go to Passport office or passort seva center and apply for PCC ( Police clearance certificate), and they will give it to you immediately if your case is clean. I think lot of ppl misunderstand PCC for PASSPORT Clearance certificate, but its actually Police clearance certificate. And also i have seen in US consulate website, that they will only accept PCC issued by passport office not any police station. I did apply it and got it in hand the same day.. 1.u can get the POLICE CLARANCE CERTIFICATE in a day from the passport kendra provided u still reside in the address as given in ur passport.

2. when getting the pcc,the passport officer will also stamp the last page of ur passport as being police cleared,i assume that is passport clearnace.

additionally u can get ur PCC attested at the ministry of external affairs (MEA) to make ur case stronger.

u are required to send it with DS230.

hope this helps.
