Just when it seems the tunnel is so dark, a bit of light appears. I say this for not only the two of us, but for all of those waiting for anything via the Nebraska Service Center.

I checked the status this evening at 9:15pm (I'm in HCMC, so 8:15am CST) and our status date changed from 1/3/2006, our original NOA1 receipt date, to 3/2/2006. The message for the update is unchanged and still reading 60 to 90 days for processing. However, any touch, update, etc. is good news for all of us waiting for an Nebraska Service Center avalanche of approvals.

I extend hope, patience and understanding for those in wait!

Is the Nebraska Center much slower compared to other centers? I'm about to send mine off to NE....bummer! I'm new to all of this...I take it that 'touched' is a good thing...do you see that by checking your status online? How is that done? I'm not even there yet I suppose but it will be good to know! :o) It will alllll be worth it in the end my friend!

Vermont is fastest. Nebraska is in the middle. California is the slowest. Texas doesn't do K-1's anymore, and forwards all theirs to California.

Nebraska is inconsistent - there have been some K-1 petitions that were approved in under two weeks, and I think there was someone recently who had one approved at Nebraska in under one week. We waited three months for ours, and there are people who have waited longer than that.

Basically, it takes as long as it takes.

Being touched is good, it means that someone looked at your application. After three months, we had never been touched - the morning we were touched, we had our NOA2 approval later that day.

You can check your status online here: https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp

Nebraska is generally one of the faster service centers. They've just fallen behind the past few months.
