Obama: Newtown Shooter Gunned Down 20 Children With 'Fully Automatic Weapon'

At a fundraiser last night in San Francisco, President Barack Obama said that the Newtown killer gunned down 20 children using a "fully automatic weapon." From the official transcript, provided by the White House:

Now, over the next couple of months, we’ve got a couple of issues: gun control. (Applause.) I just came from Denver, where the issue of gun violence is something that has haunted families for way too long, and it is possible for us to create common-sense gun safety measures that respect the traditions of gun ownership in this country and hunters and sportsmen, but also make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon -- by a fully automatic weapon in that case, sadly.

According to the prosecutor, Stephen J. Sedensky III, the killer, Adam Lanza, "killed all 26 victims inside Sandy Hook Elementary School with a Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle before taking his own life with a Glock 10 mm handgun. He says Lanza had another loaded handgun with him inside the school as well as three, 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster," ABC previously reported.

Each of the guns used is a semi-automatic weapon, and not one is an automatic weapon.

So either Obama is wrong--or he revealed something last night about the massacre that hasn't yet been known.

And I am sure they would be relieved if they found out the shooter did not use an assault rifle. Or if they found out he used 10 round magazines. Or if they found out there was no flash hider on the rifle or an evil pistol grip or carrying handle or any of the other asinine proposals put forth my idiots who know nothing about guns.

Illinois now has concealed carry by court order ruling that is is against our rights NOT to have concealed carry. The only state in the 7th circuit affected is Illinois but we can pray that the idiots in Chicago take it to the Supreme Court and get "Shall issue" stuffed down the throats of the 8 racist states that have discriminatory "may issue" regulations

I agree that the best thing the NRA could do is give President Obama a huge trophy as the gun salesman of the Century and make a big deal out of it. They should also give him free NRA membership for life as an additional reward. Nobody has motivated Americans more to buy guns, AR15s, and 10+ magazines, than Mr. O. himself.

Not too confusing, much of the motivation for purchasing a gun since Obama was elected to his first term, has been due to the hugely popular paranoid vision Obama would soon be after everyone's guns and handing the country over to the UN. Heck we even had at least one mass shooting for which this paranoid delusion was given credit.

It's fairly easy to understand considering the group of buyers. It's not like your average John and Jane Doe all of a sudden felt the need to buy this useless #######. It's the paranoid gun nuts that already sit on stockpiles that rival what some smaller nations keep in stock.

But in the context of the post it was directed towards items that the government wanted to ban under a new assault weapons purchase ban. Therefore, if a person wants the item, there is a rational fear that this might be the last time to buy. Paranoia is not involved.

I think I have been told repeatedly, and with many of , that there will be no such ban.
