USCIS is not interested in your relationship at all. They are only interested that you have met physically within the past 2 years and that you are both willing and able to marry. That is all they need and that's all the question is asking.

It's the consulate's job to figure out if you have a valid relationship, so all of that info should only be needed at your interview if they ask you how you met.

I have never seen anyone get an RFE for lack of proof of bonafide relationship from USCIS on a K1 visa. I've only seen people get denied the visa at the consul. Can you point to someone getting an RFE?

You might have been thinking of the CR1 visa (for spouses) where there is a requirement to prove a relationship when filing the petition.

I can't point to a specific but the reason I included a great deal of "proof" at the petition stage is because I read here on this forum of people getting an RFE for lack of proof of "bonafide relationships" I'm assuming those people included no proof in their petition
