So after reading this post: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/421608-a-guide-to-writing-your-elected-representatives-about-the-i-129f-slowdown-at-the-csc/ I thought it would also be a good idea to start a Change.org petition aimed to the representatives who are most important or that could have an impact on improving the situation, it should explain the current situation and waiting times, and convince them the slowdown must stop and the maximun waiting time should be...I don't know, maybe 5 or 6 months for everyone?

I am not very good at writing and explaing :P, but someone with those skills and who could also deliver the signatures once we get enough could do it.(?)

What do you think?

You can check out Change.org to take a look at other petitions and maybe get an idea of what we could do it like.

I'm all for signing any such petition, but I don't know enough about them to know how effective they are in getting responses or attention over all. I'm also concerned about one of them backfiring. Since there are only ~10-13,000 K-1 petitioners pending at the CSC in a given month, it may be hard to get the kind of support issues that effect a broader base of the population can get via dissemination through social media. We may thus be left with a petition that, in the context of other petitions, makes our cause seem relatively (and disproportionately) unimportant.

That's part of the reason I think the best way to go after this problem for the time being is to focus on getting congressional and senate offices invested in the problem and then perhaps branching out to media involvement if possible. 2500 signatures on an online petition is not something anyone important will note, but 2500 personalized letters from constituents to their elected representatives will raise eye brows.

But don't my thinking from stopping you from trying it. I'll sign it in any case and we never really know ex ante what way is going to get traction.

The Whitehouse petitions I was told, need like 100,000 signatures which is not likely we will get.

I&B, you're right, but I still think it's worth a try, I have heard and seen many petitions like this work.

I would totally start it, but like I said, I am not very good at writing those sorts of things, and I think it would also have a bigger impact if some of the signatures are delivered personally, and as I am not in California, or the US, that's not possible for me to do.

So basically what I'm asking is that someone that knows how to write it and knows about the people we should direct it to (senators, congress, uscis representatives) should do it.

I hope someone offers to do it, and of course they will have the support of all of us at the VJ community. Doesn't seem likely that this will happen cause there aren't many responses so far, but I still have faith. If no one offers to do it, but I get more support from you all, I will find someway of writing it but we won't be able to deliver signatures personally.
