So, my interview is in two weeks and I am already stressed. Any advice on how to deal with it?

4/12/13 - sent I-485 package

4/15/13 - USCIS Chicago Lockbox received package

4/22/13 - got email and txt

4/29/13 - received NOA in mail

5/08/13 - received biometrics appointment for 5/22

5/09/13 - successful early walk in at Port Chester, NY office

5/22/13 - I-485 updated to Testing & Interview

6/18/13 - EAD went to production

6/21/13 - Card/Document Production for EAD - second email

6/24/13 - EAD mailed

6/26/13 - EAD arrived

7/18/13 - got email about interview

7/20/13 - got hard copy interview letter

08/23/13 - interview - Approved dancin5hr.gif(card production & decision email)

08/28/13 - card production - second email

08/29/13 - card mailed

09/03/13 - card arrived

So I was looking at the official USCIS timelines and it shows ROC takes 6 months, so does that mean there will be a period of time when our gc will expire and we can't travel or work? Or does EAD and AP apply here as well?

the I-751 and accompanying documents are mailed to either the USCIS California or Vermont Service Centers, depending on your state of residence.you will receive a notice of receipt for the form stating that "Your alien card is extended one year- employment and travel authorized. keep the receipt with your green card.

04/05/2013 (Day 1) - Package received by USCIS Chicago

04/11/2013 (Day 7) -Received all 3 NOAs via text and email

Congrats to everyone who has had interviews and been approved! It's great news!

I've been SO busy with work I've had little time to come check in on everyone's status.... as for us... we are still waiting for a reschedule of our interview. Work is a welcomed distraction... but it's always in the back of my mind WHEN we are going to hear from them. I guess once they forwarded our application to our new jurisdiction the process started all over again??

04/01/2013 (day 0) - AOS packet sent via FedEx (I-130, I-485, I-765)
04/02/2013 (day 1) - Delivered to USCIS Chicago
04/10/2013 (day 9) - Received USCIS Acceptance Confirmation email. Awaiting official receipt notice (Form I-797) in the mail!
04/15/2013 (day 14) - Received NOA in mail, Biometrics appointment for 5/7/2013.
04/17/2013 (day 16) - Attempted walk in for biometrics = denied

05/07/2013 (day 36) - Biometrics appointment completed in Baltimore, MD

05/15/2013 (day 44) - I-485 updated to Testing & Interview! No changes for EAD or I-131.

05/23/2013 (day 52) - NOA for interview date and time received in mail

05/25/2013 (day 54) - NOA that our interview has been cancelled. No updates for EAD.

06/05/2013 (day 65) - Online EAD update to " Card Production"

Discoverusa, think of it like this... The interviewing officer are human too, just like us. They use the restroom, blow their noses and fart just

like everybody else!!! Lol!! Remember this to calm your nerves in the interview room. And another way to stop stressing is that you know all you have to do is tell the truth, there's nothing to hide. I think they are very well trained on how to separate the honest ones from those who are not. You know in your heart what is the truth. And they will see that.

I was nervous beforehand because its going into the unknown. It's impossible to predict what questions they were going to ask us. When we walked in we went through airport style security, and the officers there were very friendly and funny. I think from then on it calmed me. Also sitting waiting in the waiting area I thought to myself... There's nothing more i can do, I have my binder full of documents and an album full of photos. I have everything with me, I can't change what I have with me at this point, so this is it, this is us. Whatever happened from then on was out of our control. So I just relaxed.

You've probably already thought of this, but please dress smartly, as if going for a job interview or visiting a court house. I feel it's a sign of respect. I can't tell you how many people I seen in our building wearing very casual clothes, as if they weren't taking it seriously.

9th April 2013 - Application sent (i-765 i-130 i-485)


22nd April 2013 - received text and email saying they had received package, dated received on 12th April


25th April 2013 - received hard copies of NOA receipt for all 3 forms


26th April 2013 - received Biometrics appt for 13th May in New Orleans


13th May 2013 - Biometrics appt done


7th June 2013 - received NOA to appear for interview on 10th July in Jacksonville


22nd June 2013 - received NOA interview cancelled and rescheduled for 29th July


28th June 2013- received EAD in mail


2nd July 2013- applied for social security number


9th July 2013- received social security card in mail



29th July 2013- interview 2pm APPROVED ON THE SPOT


1st August 2013 - received NOA "Welcome to the United States of America" letter


5th August 2013 - received green card in the mail

Thank you Kpo87 for that advice. I am not worried about our evidence since we have plenty. Like you said, It's the unknown that makes me stressed.

My husband makes fun of me whenever I am on VJ website. He's like: "Are you talking to your family again?" I know it sounds cheesy, but it sort of feels like family here. Just a group of people who understands and supports each other.

Goodluck on ur interview :) I won't tell u that u shouldn't worry bcuz I couldn't help but b nervous before our interview. Just kno that ull b fine tho. U got all ur evidence together n I'm sure u guys r quizzing each other. Ull b ok. From ur extended family :)
