No need to worry. Your I-485 and your I-765 are processed by different offices. So a NOA about your I-485 would not mention anything about your EAD.

What about getting a joint AAA membership? Sam's Club? Cosco?

Do you have a joint email address? We took a screenshot of our gmail account as well as our YouTube account.

The bank statements are the big thing. They definitely want to see a co-mingling of funds.

You don't need a SSN to be added to the utilities. I was able to add Dave before he got his ITIN or SSN. I would ask your spouse to add you ASAP & ask that an email be sent (to your joint email addy) confirming that you have been added. Also, if you log onto your utilities account online, you can print the page that shows both names.

As far as the insurance goes, I'm not sure who your carrier is but I was able to add Dave using his UK license. He's listed as an additional driver. Once he received his CA Learner's Permit, we just contacted our agent and his license number was changed from the UK to CA.

Also, are you listed on the car registration from the DMV? You don't need a US DL or SSN for that either! This should be done right away so that you have that in time for your interview.

So, utilities and car registration are two doable items that you can use for your interview. However, they need to be taken care of within the next couple of days.

Also, I would definitely talk to the landlord and ask for a letter stating that you have been living there and that you couldn't be added to the lease since you do not have proper documentation. However, I would think that that your NOA2 from your EAD would suffice. Either way, speak with your landlord. That would be one of the biggest pieces of evidence to show cohabitation. I would even go so far to ask your neighbors to write letters stating you live there.

Ok heres what we have so far:
Bank statements showing Joint bank account.
Lots of pics from our wedding (it was a large wedding...atleast 130 guests) we also have pics from her numerous trips to ja to visit me.
We have only two letters addressed to both of us at the same residence.
From the wedding we have our wedding invitations n wedding programs n also wedding guestbook. Also cards from our guests.
Our marriage certificate.
Usps lost my ead so I couldn't get added to any of the bills or her insurance or even her lease. So thats what we have so far to proof a bonafide marriage

Are we at.100% success yet for April? God bless our group. Can we get an update on the table please? In other news, I got the welcome to America letter today. Waiting on the green card now.

I think there's still a few April filers who either have not had interviews yet or have not updated us on their case status. I'm still waiting too but expect to be the outlier in the group. I'm away on vacation right now but will check and update the table when I am back home later this week.

Cheers!

My USCIS Journey...

Received my "Welcome to the United States of America" letter today :-)))

So here is our story.....

Our interview in Jacksonville, Fl was at 2pm on monday 29th July 2013, we arrived at the building at 1.30pm and went through airport style security. Security officers very friendly and chatty. We sat in the waiting room for around 30 minutes when my name was called by a female IO. She swore us in before we sat down. She asked us questions from our application form, more so to confirm the answers. She then asked us to tell her a little bit about ourselves, like how we met. She seemed very interested in what we had to say, and the interview felt more like a friendly conversation. She was happy with all the evidence we had submitted with the application, particularly our names on our house and utility bills. I had a big binder and folder, both full, with me but she did not ask to see any more evidence/documents. She asked us if I had met my husbands family, and if he had met my family, and then asked me to pick a few photos out of the 90 I had brought in an album, as she simply cant accept the whole thing. To which I picked out photos of us with my family and with his family in a variety of situations, holidays together, bridal shower, July 4th etc. She seemed very happy with that, so began to say when I get my Green Card I'd need to remove the conditions in 2 years etc, and asked us to sign a form, to which we got a copy. At this point she hadn't said the words "you are approved", so I asked her, and she said "yes, you are approved" and smiled. Although she wouldn't have needed to say those words for us to know that we were, as the interview seemed to go great from start to finish. But it is still nice to hear those words, even just for reassurance :-). She then said that's all she needed, and we all stood up and we shook her hand and thanked her The whole interview seemed to last about 10 minutes.

During the interview we wouldn't have thought this, however, in hindsight we very much feel that our approval was already decided before we even walked through the door, and that the interview, for us, was a formality. I'm not suggesting that this is the case for everyone, as already proven, each case is very unique. This is our personal experience and we couldn't be more happy with how it went. It is such a huge relief, and weight off the shoulders.

I hope that sharing our experience will help many of you. I certainly know that for me, I enjoyed reading everyone's interview experiences. It really prepared me. My motto has been "fail to prepare, prepare to fail". We took everything we could think of, with us, "just in case", if we felt it had any relevance. In the end she didn't need to look at any of it. However, If we didn't have it with us, even for our own peace of mind, it could have been a different story.

Now we can finally start living a "normal" (whatever that is ;-) ) life together. I even have a job interview lined up for tomorrow. This has been quite a week!! I, of course will still be checking in here to see how everyone is coming along, and will be more than happy to answer any questions if you feel it might help your case.

Hi,

We had interview on 25th July. I got my Green Card today.

After the approval of interview, it takes almost 3-4 working days for getting the 2nd email of stating that the GC went into production.

USPS picks up the mail next day, then it will take 2-3 days to deliver to you. So in total 8-10 days with weekend in the middle.

Thanks

Purpose of visit--------- Adjustment of status from F1

Local Office --------- Los Angeles

Appointment --------- 10:15 am

Time arrived. --------- 9:45am

Time called in. --------- 11:51 am

The I.O ---------- Asian lady in her late 40s to early 50s

This is how it all went

Called in and followed her to her office ,

She swore us in and asked us to sit down.

Asked for our IDs and passports as well as our birth certificates

Set them on her desk and she asked husband first.

" what is your address", we have a new add from the one when we filed initially

She just crossed out the old add and asked husband for the new add

Then proceeded to ask place of birth, date of birth , parents name and then the yes no questions on the 485 form

She then turn to wife asked her place birth, date of birth, social security numbers

Then she asked for our joint ownership

Documents we had:

Auto insurance in both names

Bank statements

Sprint phone bills

Electric bill

Letter from work showing wife as the emergency contact

Letter from work showing husband as the emergency contact

Letter from school showing wife as the emergency contact

We had about 14 pics , she kept them all . some wedding , some family photos

We did not have a lease together so we were nervous about that, and yes she did ask for it. We just told her the truth , we don't have one because we just couldn't add the husband to it ,

She then asked us how we met, and we told our story and she seemed interested in our love story :)

All along she been typing things on her computer.

After that she asked if we had met each other's parents

She then got up and left to make copies I guess.

She came back and then she said she was keeping my ead since I no longer need it as she was approving us. Then it was a quick review on how we will go about removing the conditions and that was it.
