My USCIS Journey...

 

I had an I-485 filing already submitted through an employment-based application. Post-marriage, I submitted an I-130, which after being approved was interfiled with the existing I-485.

Interfiling/AOS Timeline:

01/03/14 - Day 274 - Interfiling request received by USCIS

04/03/14 - Day 364 - Interfiling service request sent

04/30/14 - Day 391 - Second interfiling service request sent

05/19/14 - Day 410 - Email sent asking for case status update

06/04/14 - Day 426 - Response received that I-485 was transferred to NBC

06/05/14 - Day 427 - I-485 updated to "sent to local office for processing"

07/02/14 - Day 454 - Status changed to testing & interview. Interview date August 4!!

08/04/14 - Day 487 - Mini-Stokes interview. IO intended on approving AOS but the computer did not show I-130 approval. The wait goes on...

08/18/14 - Day 501 - Spoke with Tier 2 IO - said that my I-485 is approved but no card prodn ordered. Asked to call back in 2 weeks if no update.

08/29/14 - Day 512 - Spoke with Tier 2 IO - said that my I-485 was not approved yet, but my file was with an IO for a decision

09/03/14 - Day 517 - Wrote a request to my Congressman asking for assistance

09/09/14 - Day 523 - Status updated to Card/Document Production

09/15/14 - Day 529 - Status update - Card mailed to address on record/permanent resident status registered

09/15/14 - Day 529 - Status update - Card picked up by USPS.

09/16/14 - Day 530 - GREEN CARD RECEIVED IN THE MAIL!!

I-751 Timeline:

05/25/16 - Day 000 - I-751packet mailed to CSC

05/27/16 - Day 002 - I-751 packet received at CSC

06/02/16 - Day 008 - Check cashed

06/03/16 - Day 009 - NOA1 received. Receipt Date: 05/27/16

06/10/16 - Day 016 - Biometrics appointment notice received - appointment date 6/22/16

06/22/16 - Day 028 - Biometrics Appointment - complete

01/04/17 - Day 224 - Status update - ROC Approved!  Card production ordered.

01/09/17 - Day 229 - Status update - Approval notice letter received.  Also received a notification that the card has been mailed.

01/11/17 - Day 231 - Card received in the mail!

08/18/23 - Day 289 - Oath Ceremony notice received - scheduled for 09/29/23.

So as I was taking a nap I hear 3 text messages coming in on my phone, and seconds later I hear 3 email coming in. I knew right away it's USCIS. So I read the text message , they inform me there had been an update to your status, visit USCIS website for more details. I started doing the happy dance very confident that it was my EAD . So I went to check the status only to be very disappointed when I realized it was just an address change update. Ohh well the wait continues. At least my I-485 went to initial review from acceptance maybe I will finally be moving to interview and testing like you all.

04/03/2013 (Day 0) - Sent off I-130,I-485, I-765

04/05/2013 (Day 1) - Package received by USCIS Chicago

04/11/2013 (Day 7) -Received all 3 NOAs via text and email

04/12/2013 (Day 8) - Checks cashed

04/15/2013 (Day 11)- NOA hard copies received

04/19/2013 (Day 15) -Received Biometric appointment for 05/06/2013

04/22/2013 (Day 18) - Successful walk in Biometrics

06/18/2013 (Day 75) - EAD approved

06/24/2013 (Day 80) - testing and interview

07/02/2013 (Day 88) - interview scheduled for August 2

Thanks very much for all your advice I feel a whole lot better now when I know ppl have been in my situation and fought through it. I also dont have a lease in any of our names we are staying with a family friend until we get our own place when finances pick up. Did the IO ask about why you dont have a lease ect together? Also if you dont mind I could certainly use the names of those sites where I can get magazines and stuff in our names. So far this is what I have. Joint tax return for 2012 tax year, I added her to my credit card as a user, photos from the wedding day ( maybe four or five of me, her and her daughter that drove in town), 1 photo of us with her brother watching the super bowl, the official foward mail notification from the post office to forward mail to our new address.

What we actually had brought since we didn't have a lease agreement was a notarized affidavit from the friend stating we live in her house, take care of it for her, and that there's no lease agreement because we're like family. In the affidavit she also put some background info about how long she's known me, and my husband, little tidbits about our relationship. The IO read this very carefully and analyzed the fact that we didn't have a lease agreement; however in the end he said the notarized affidavit was perfect. I would suggest you get the same done?? Have the family friend write an affidavit and get it signed; I think that'll help a lot. Make sure to bring an original and a copy; our IO needed to see both.

Honestly I just ordered all the catalogs I could think of; Nordstrom, Macy's, Victoria's Secret, Godiva chocolate, all the stores I normally pass in the mall. Then I typed in "free catalogs" on google and ordered a few more from there. We had about 10 total, the IO only needed to see a few to be satisfied. Plus they're free to order to your hearts content!

I think you'll get it on time Bullan. I got that message five days ago and tracking says my card should be delivered today.

Both my EAD and AP have been approved according to the USCIS.org website!! I've literally been FREAKING OUT about this for the past few days since I have tickets home for the 17th of June. Now, I know I can't completely relax since I don't have the papers in hand yet and they have 10 days to send it to me. That's like... extremely tight...

SO:

EAD says 'Card production'

AP says 'Post-Decision Activity' and that they've mailed my approval and something about me following the instructions? What do I need to do...?

Ah just a few other things we used as evidence that might help some of you... We printed out our Skype history (you can access it online) for the entire time we were dating long distance, the IO really loved this and kept it. Also paypal money transfers between the two of us, and cards and postcards we had written between the two of us over the course of our 4 year relationship. :)

Goodbar some evidence like that might be something you could look into
