Sorry I killed most of my brain cells at work, but could someone explain what exactly "testing and interview" means?

Also, how long for the I-130 to be processed? Is it pending approval of the I-485? I would think it would've just the opposite ...

I think this is when they process your case for interview, setting a date, sending out the NOA etc...sometimes they can decide that they won't do an interview and it just jumps to decision. I've seen a few persons not get interviewed. I'm sure there are other explanations, but that's my bit...

Sorry I killed most of my brain cells at work, but could someone explain what exactly "testing and interview" means?

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview.

From what I have read those that bypass an interview are typically those adjusting from K-1 visas and I believe they already go through an interview for the K-1 visa.

Just to add a little more to this, it depends on how busy the local office is here you will be having your interview. For example, New York seems to be an extremely busy office and people have been waiting up to 4 months for an interview date. Other offices have scheduled interviews a month out.

My USCIS Journey...

I had an I-485 filing already submitted through an employment-based application. Post-marriage, I submitted an I-130, which after being approved was interfiled with the existing I-485.

On the "My Case Status" page you can fill out information to see Processing Times. I'm specifically looking at my I-765. How do I know which service center is processing my application? On the bottom of my NOA it has the National Benefits Center..I just assumed that was the center. Am I right?

To answer my own question...and fyi

USCIS assigns a 13-character case number (receipt number) to each application, for example: SRC 06 012 54321. A case number is structured like this: AAA-XX-YYY-Z-MMMM:

AAA: The service center or office that received your case. SRC - Texas Service Center (TSC, formerly Southern Regional Center)
LIN - Nebraska Service Center (NSC, Lincoln, NE)
WAC - California Service Center (CSC, formerly Western Adjudication Center)
EAC - Vermont Service Center (VSC, formerly Eastern Adjudication Center)
MSC - Missouri Service Center (MSC, transitioned to NBC)
NBC - National Benefits Center (NBC, for N-400, I-90 and other cases) XX: The fiscal year of USCIS, from October 1 to September 30. Cases filed from 10/01/2006 to 09/30/2007 will have xx = 07 YYY: The working day of the fiscal year when your case is received. 10/01 = 001 Z: This digit is part of a serial number but may have certain meanings for USCIS internal use. MMMM: A serial number assigned to your case based on the number of cases received, starting from 0001

Sorry I killed most of my brain cells at work, but could someone explain what exactly "testing and interview" means?

Also, how long for the I-130 to be processed? Is it pending approval of the I-485? I would think it would've just the opposite ...

With regards to the I-130, this is adjudicated at the same time as the I-485 - in the interview! Seems weird but that's how it goes. So you won't get any updates on that until after the interview.

Congratulations to everyone with their recent case status updates! My EAD card was mailed this morning, so I'm pretty excited too! :dancing:
