Bad News, got an e-notification that an RFE was mailed today for my I-485. I have no clue ####### they could want...Can I cal and find out so that I can prepare the evidence ahead of time?

Generally the answer is no - because neither the call handlers nor the 2nd line assistance people at USCIS can view the specific case notes of your file to get that information.

You'd have to contact the NBC - I only managed to do this by them contacting me first and providing me with a fax number, and I replied with a faxed letter asking them to call me. The lady who was working my case was then able to advise me what the RFE was for.

However - it should be in the mail in a few days!

I do, the number which was provided to me was this: (816) 251-2290

However, this is their fax number not an inbound telephone number. Also, as you don't have anyone to mark it to the attention of, it may not get allocated properly / within a decent timeframe. I honestly think you're best waiting for the physical RFE, it only took me 3 days to receive mine.

I feel your pain there. But mine was something really silly - a missing signature on the I-864 form. Yours is probably something equally easy to fix!

Way to spoil my day USCIS....I hope MIA beats CHI tonight....that will cheer me up :-) And how useless is this online account system. The least they could do is send you an encryted/plain copy of the RFE to your email and tell you that you cant respond until you get the hardcopy but at least give you time to go gather the evidence hence cutting back on wait times....smh

I was equally frustrated when my e-notification arrived, as it was on Friday night - hence no way of even venting my frustration to USCIS until Monday! However, it came today (Wednesday), so really you won't be waiting long.

Just think one day you can look back and be like 'haha, that used to be me!' when you're sitting with your approved green card in your hands!

From what I understand, you don't need to load up your application on a huge amount of bona-fide evidence - a lot of that is handled at the interview stage. I'm sure it's something silly. Common reasons I've seen are:

• Missing signatures,
• Missing documents (aka Marriage Certificates, Divorce Decrees, Birth Certificates etc),
• Requests for original of the aforementioned documents,
• Missing tax returns/transcripts/W2s,
• Missing photos (this seems to be more rare these days, as I believe USCIS now uses the photos taken during biometrics)

Don't worry, all will work out just fine!

Go ahead and rant away ....punch me even if you want ......maybe I might need a punching bag myself if RFE comes back...I'm still nervous about that. It will be fine...give them what they want as quick as possible and keep the wheel turning...cheers!!

Haha, the boldness of calling the FBI is brilliant! It had never even crossed my mind to do so - presuming FP here stands for finger print or..?

Anyway, as an update to my case. The day after I got the notification that my EAD had been sent to production, I subsequently received an RFE for my I-485. However, it was simply for a missing signature on the I-864 Affidavit of Support, and a lady from the NBC actually gave me a call to tell me specifically what it was for, and if I could fax it over to her she would immediately get my EAD card sorted.

Well needless to say, I did just that, and my EAD card is now being delivered... yay!

Looks like I'll be needing it, given the current wait time for interviews in Dallas is... oh so many, many, many months.

@CiaoBella23 hahaha yeah this system makes you do stuff you wouldn't dare dream of it's just that we have almost the same timeline and we are both in California , only difference is u are in Los Angeles and I am 20 miles away from you guys. So I was hoping we would be getting responses approximately around the same time, but that's not what is happening so you start to wonder now if you didn't do something right and you end up calling ppl like the FBI
